MUN'CIK, Ind., March 27—This city is gaily decorated with patriotic emblems in honor of the G-. A. R. convention of Indiana, which will continue until Thursday night. The department officers of the Grand Army and Woman's Relief corps and Sons of Veterans arrived yesterday by special train and were escorted to headquarters. The department officers were accompanied by the famous Soldiers' am» Sailors' Orphans' Home band of Khiightstown.

A large number of veterans, accompanied by their families, have already arrived, and 10.000 visitors will be luire.

National Commander Lawier of Illinois will also be present. Vesierday was devote.i to the establishment of incoming posts in their temporary quartvJi'S.

DiX'ATi K, Ind., March 21'.—The large, stock barn, cattle and hog sheds and granaries on the farm of Robinson & Company, in French township, this county, were destroyed by lire, together with a large amount of grain, i.~0 head of hogs and a quantity of farming implements. Tiie buildings occupied over three, m-ivs of ground. The property was owned by Robin soil & Company of Richmond, Ind.

Henry Blnhnie, superintendent of the farm, was probably fatally burned. The fire was of incendiary origin and was the third attempt to burn the buildings in tiie last year. Loss about !jj*0,X)0, with small insurance.

RICHMOND, Ind., March 27.—Richmond will make st-r«ng efforts to secure the next meeting of tne North Indiana Methodist Episcopal conference, which meets this year at Logansport. Her only competitor is Fort Wayne and the contest between them promises to be an interesting one. This city will also ask for the next state encampment of the G. A. R. The brigade encampment of the Knights of Pythias, or in ase that is not held, the Third regimental encampment is also wanted.

El,WOOD, Ind., March 27.—The Diamond piateghiss factory lias closed down the easting halls, and will close down the entire plant Saturday, and NU0 men will be out of employment. The shutdown is to take inventory of stork and to transfer the plant to the trust. It is not known how long the plank will remain idle, jut it is stated semi-oili-eially that it will resume in full in six weeks.

RICHMOND, Ind., March 27.—John H. Wolke, who a lew weeks ago lied the country and was subsequently found• to be a forger, and who later ret'urned and gave himself up, was sentenced to two years and three mouths in the penitentiary and lined $10.

Mrs. Clinton Wilson, who lives on S. A. Wray's farm near Maxwell, is quite sick with a large abscess in her side. She has a little babe ten days old.

The Greenfield Woman's Club meets with Mrs. Eph Marsh this afternoon. The subject is "The Grecian Woman," and Is in charge of Mr?. Dr. J. P. Black.

Dr. L. B. Griffin has purchased of Dr. E. B. Howard, 40 feet just North of Mrs. Lizzie Howard's property on North St.and will build him a home there this summer.

John Huston and wife went to Anderson c-day to attend the funeral of his uncle, Henry Goe, which occurred there at 2 p. m. He was a prominent grocery man of that city.

Mayor George W. Duncan and Cily Attorney Robert Williamson went to Indianapolis to-day, to mere thoroughly investigate the question of the bond sale about to be make in this city.

Frank E. Hammer: of Indianapolis, was a guest of his father-in-law, John T. Duncan, -over Sunday. As a crayon and- pastel artist, Frank is achieving quite a reputation. He is turning out some very fine work and building up a lucrative business.

The boys who like to "lush" on Sunday speak right out against what they call the "Duncan bill." One said that everything was so tight last Sunday you havin could not even get a drink of buttermilk it the creamery, ss it was closed. Mayor "(jm)]

Ward Walker informed us that the piece of ground he sold was the tirst real estate he ever owned, and tho same can be said of that owned by G. T. Randall, as it was his first real estate. I A very enjoyable feature of the last Outer township institute, held Saturday the

inst., was a splendid dinner

given tho teachers by Trustee W. H.. Thompson. The dinner was followed by two hours of social intercourse which made the teachers feel that it was good for them to be there. The institute course has been very interesting throughout, and last Saturday gave it an agreeable and lltting c'ose. The teachers all speak highly of Mr. Thompson as a. school trustee.
