esorfed to the good will and confidence of the Executive. What is past, I can forgive. The evil? of the day, I can bear; but I have the, utmost dread of the future. I feel that I have nothing to look for from the Government during the present Administration, but contumely and neglect. And seeing that there is no controlling or protecting .power, t whom I look for redress, I cannot bear the idea of remaining in a situation to be again exposed to treatment,similar to that which I have already experienced from the Government.

I have met with much sympathy from my fellow citizens in general, many of whom belei ve that I am an injured man. and many gentlemen of Congress have assured me, that I should receive from that bodv protection.
