"The most important detail was the creation of a Bureau in which speakers and Kleagles have been carefully trained in the true faith of the Klan. Also, a Bureau was established for the guidance of Klan publications and the preparation of educational matter for Klansmen." "The Klan headquarters remains in Atlanta, and will remain there until the Klan orders it removed." "I may say, just here, that all the moves df myself or other Imperial officers have been forced by the exigencies of situations there has never been a pre-arranged plan to take the Klan into poiitics." "The fight in the Democratic National convention demonstrated to the entire country that the charges made by the Klan against the Roman Catholic Hierarchy charges most used to prove us guilty of religious prejudice and un-Americanism are absolutely true." "The Roman Catholic Hierarchy erred when it permitted or rather forced itself to become a political issue. Make Up Your Own Mind. IT HAS BEEN only a few months since President Coolidge said: "We do not propose to intrust to any power or combination of powers any authority to make tip our minds for us." Mr. OooIIdges words, we believe, give expression to the sentiment of all Americans. Americans are capable of governing themselves without the aid of foreigners, and it would take one possessing much temerity to voice an

opinion that America should let foreign powers make up

her mind for her. But. getting down to bed rock, is not a foreign power wielding an influence over Americans and, without realizing It, are not Americans permitting this foreign power to form their opinions? It is admitted that this alien power is known as a religion, but this fact does not eliminate the fact that the pope of Rome is a foreign potentate ruling his millions of subjects with an iron hand. This particular power, hy the use of propaganda, innuendo and statements for public consumption which do not agree with that which is taught in its schools, have succeeded in the task of forming the opinion of many Americans on certain subjects. One of the outstanding' points on which an erroneous opinion has been formed by many Americans, is that the Roman Catholic Church favors education. This ghastly joke has been so persistently flaunted before a credulous public that there are Americans who actually believe it; believe it In spite of the evidence on every hand that the Roman Catholic corporation does not. and never has favored education except the education of a few who must head and act for rhe Roman corporation in its continued effort to keep the layman ignorant. Ily expert twisting of the English language the Roman

hierarchy has printed some plausible stories which, on the face of them appear to be true and would, to one who

doesn't wish to tax the brain, seem logical in the assertion that the Roman ecclesiastical empire does favor education.

However, the pope, nor any of his agents, have ever explained why, if the Roman system favors education, that dense ignorance prevails in all countries where the Roman corporation holds sway to the extent that it dominates

hy force of numbers. This same Roman system has never explained why

luuuiiu-a nutio j-i ui.f siaimsm predominates, mere is

very, very little illiteracy. When Rome explains these

things satisfactorily, then the world may begin to believe that Rome favors education. Rut until she does, the world will have to believe that Rome Is lying when she

says the hierarchy favors education.

That point though, is only -one of the many things on

which a foreign power has formed an opinion for Americans. Not all Americans of course, but enough to make the total an astonishing figure. With the. advent of that patriotic organizat ion, the Ku Klux Klan, many persons

who heretofore permitted Rome to form their opinions

have had a change of heart. Another reason why Rome is fighting the Klan so desperately. Americans should remember the words of President Coolidge. and not "Intrust to any power or combination'' of powers any authority to make up their minds for

them."

ARTICLE ONE

A MERICA, and in fact, practically all the world is today viewing and suffering those two

outstanding features of the Roman Catholic hierarchy which have been used by the Roman power from the first to extendand hold its power. Despotism and expediency have gone hand in hand down through the annals of Roman Catholic history, and Expediency is now being thrown to the fore in America as never before. Expediency has been practiced by the Roman hierarchy to such an extent that it is even put to use in small communities in the United States. The Wildeyed Correspondent. A"t'ORDIN(! to a Consolidated Press dispatch out of Chicago, in regard to the renewed efforts of the police to curb crime in that city, "a reign of terror is promised Chicago if the Klan carries out the crime clean up campaign against the powerful lawless elements of the city.

i. u ne imagination is neeaeu to ioresee wnat would Happen if a hooded band should enter the "black belt' with its SiiO.OOO inhabitants, to raid the district." In speaking of imagination, it might be asked can anyone with an lota of gray matter, picture the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, with or without uniforms, going forth as Klansmen to raid dens of vice? It would take a most

riotous imagination that Is, where the one doing the imagining possessed the supposed average intelligence of an adult-to conceive of Klansmen taking it on themselves to form "a hooded band" and go forth to conduct a series of raids which falls in the line of duty of the city police or federal forces. Recently, a Chicago daily printed a story is which it was stated that the Klan was ready to give assistance to the police in their efforts to curb crime in Chicago. From that statement an evidently wild-eyed correspondent immediately conceived the idea, either through ignorance or a desire for the sensational, that uniformed Klansmen were about to sally forth to do battle with vice in the slums hy engaging in hand-to-hand combats and with no authority to make arrests. The Municipal Voters' League is bent on reducir.

crime in Chicago and is willing to aid the police in what-

every capacity possible. May we not expect a dispatch from the Consolidated Press reading something like the following;

"No vivid imagination is necessary to foresee what would happen should the members of the Municipal Voters' League, who cant their votes in secret at each election, invade the Italian quarter, in which fifty-one murders were committed during the year just past, armed with ballots" and bent on raiding vice dens of w hich the habitants carry the deadly stilleto." It is Just possible, however, that the Consolidated correspondent did not wish to mention that fifty-one of Chicago's murders in 1924, were committed in one small section of the city known as the Italian quarter and in which, of course, there live only aliens. He was probably no more eager to mention that than he would have been to state the fact that less than thirty days ago, officers confiscated three thousand stills In another small section of the city inhabited by aliens.

Neither did he mention that the number of murders

was swelled by the open warfare carried on between

rival gangs of alien gunmen. The correspondent might

also have printed the names and the religion of the mem

bern of the city council, which, according to one of the

leading dallies in Chicago, "shown unpleasant symptoms of intellectual and moral deterioration," and which in a great way, is responsible for the sickening amount of vice and crime In the Windy City, according to the newspapers. While it is true that the Klan stands for clean morals and ctvic righteousness, and has been a great aid In obtaining these much-to-be-deslred conditions In innumerable places, hy -getting evidence against law violators and supplying the authorities with, information, the picture drawn by the imaginative CensoUdatedrrespondent, of

lieves it expedient to profess that

the hierarchy favors education, while it is common knowledge that no practical systems of education exist where the Roman Catholic population predominates. This phase of the expediency practiced hy the Roman ecclesiastical empire will be taken up at length in a future article, however. Should the Roman church ever predominate, or dominate America, our school systems, as well as the parochial systems of teaching would crumble into virtual nothingness witlv in a few years. This assertion will befully substantiated and proved as the articles unfold. Cardinal Richelieu of Fiance, in the early part of the Seventeenth Century, presents, possibly, the most vivid picture of the despotism, brutality and expediency of the Roman hierarchy. Richelieu, who crushed all who stood in his path, be they peasants or nobles, and who made relentless war on the Hugenots. pretended friendship with certain Protestant princes In southern Germany, in order to. gain certain ends which were afterward disastrous to the Protestants and their interests. The tactics of Richelieu can. in a way. lie likened to the tactics today being employed by the Roman empire in its fight against the Ku Klux Klan in America. Great friendship is being shown Protestants who are not Klans

men. and to Protestant organizations

other than such organizations as the Klan. the Orangemen, etc. In this connection, it might be pointed out that, despite the fact that Cardinal O'Coiinell declared the Roman Catholic church and the Masons were "as far apart as the two poles" and condemned Roman Catholics for fraternizing with the Masons, the Knights of Columbus are making much supposed friendly ado over the Masons in America. But what about the Masons in France, Italy, Spain and other Roman Catholic countries? Right at this time Masons are forbid

den to assemble in Spain, an attempt is being made to crush them in Italy, and in France they are accused of j trying "to run the government." and i a terrific tight is being conducted I against them by the Roman Catholic I

not as

civilized then as He is now." The teaching of the Roman Catholic -religion is that the pope is God's direct representative on earth and possesses wisdom direct from Heaven. Why, then, should the first pope, whom the Roman Catholic church declares to have been Saint Peter, here lacked wisdom or Christly atrributas? If Roman Catholics wish to believe that Saint Peter was the first pope, that is their privilege. 'But this privilege doesn't eliminate the fact that the pope was ignorant of the shape of the world then, or the present pope does not know the correct shape of our world. All of this, however, has little to do with our present day. It .does, however, give to one an insight of the workings of the Roman Catholic system which today is .attempting to align Protestant against Protestant in its vain dream of world-wide supremacy and dominion. All dupes of the pope are not ' Roman Catholics. There are those Protestants who. under the magic spell of the glib tongues and fluent pens of the emissaries of this ancient system, condemn other Protestants who are awake to the machinations or' this system and would light to keep off the shackles of this centuries-old menace. One of Home's greatest weapons is to create a light among her opponents. When the Ku Klux Klan was formed. Rome paid little heed' to it that is. Rome did not start the heated campaign later indulged in. until the hierarchy - realized the won.wco

growth being enjoyed hv the American organization. When literally tens ot thousands of staunch American Protestants began to rallv under the banner of the Klan, Rome brought forth all her weapons to open a finish fight on this organization which she rtalized presented an obstacle in her path, the end of which she firmly believed to be the domination of America. Every Weapon Is Used. gINCK the beginning of her unholywar on the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan. Rome has used every weapon known to her. from brute strength to intrigue a nd expediency. Klan parades have been attacked' Klan meetings have been fired on: men have been shot down in cold blood and women and children have been

oeaien. isian Klaverns

burned and robbed in all parts of the country and traitors placed within the Klan ranks despite the efforts of the Klan organization to keep them out. Plots have been manufactured in an effort to lay at the door of the Klan horrible ourages. A galaxy of speakers have been turned loose in all parts of the country to deliver addresses containing unfounded charges against the Klan and newspapers have been used to print slanderous stories. Charges that the Klan is intolerant and is founded on hatred have been heralded to the world. The Knights of Columbus have attempted to fraternize with the Masons, and to a certain extent have succeeded. Protestant 'ministers. mislead by Roman propaganda, have said bitter things against the Klan. All of these things and many more have been used bv the machine in

its effort to disrupt and destroy the

Klan. ror. with the Klan destroyed, does Rome have any fear that it can

not handle the Protestants who are so blind as to condemn an organiza

tion ot their own people? With many

Americans believing those things

winch Koman Catholic dignitaries say

tor punncation in the newspapers,

anu tnose tnings which Koman lath

olic information bureaus print for pub-

he consumption, instead of believine

tnose mings winch the Koman hierarchy teaches iii its textbooks, Rome can but feel scciiims if the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan were dead. Rome Feels Secure. QO LONG as there are Americans

who ignore the bitter attack nowbeing made on the French government by the Roman Catholic church in an effort to force union of church and state, and believe the Roman agents of the pope in this country who declare the Roman system does not believe in union of church and state, just that long will Rome feel secure. When the fact that Rome is accusing the Masons in Europe of everything it is accusing the Klan in tain Americans, is it. not natural that America makes no impression on cerRome relies on uninformed Protestants to help her carry on her battles against the millions of Protestants who have awakened to the Roman menace in America. In the following articles the many points touched on in the foregoing will be gone into at length,- as well as many other phases of Rome's despotism and expediency.

False Sense of Security. gl'T TO return for the moment. to Richelieu and the France of his day. What happened when the Protestants had been lulled into a false -sense of security by the wily manipulations of the Roman church?

The Protestants became the victims

of the most horrible incident of its kind in the history of the world, the St. Bartholomew Massacre. The name

of France brings to mind Joan of Arc. Burned at the stake by the Roman Catholic hierarchy, on May 3(1. 1431. she was made a saint in 1909 by pope Pius X. According to history, "she was fully vindicated by a papal bull." Such is the history of this despotic power which rules its subjects with a hand of iron, and lulls those whom it seeks to destroy, with a glib tongue and the use of expediency. The Spanish Inquisition marks but one o( the horrible steps taken hy the Roman church to hold Its power. Butchery, arson, murder, intrigue, despotism, brutality, expediency, auto-suggestion, hypocrary, deceit, running, and a continued fight against education litter the trail left by the foul footprints of a merciless combination of crafty men masquerading under the duping millions of persons who desire to believe in a just and good God. While only an incident. . the fate of Galileo provides an apt example of the desperate fight conducted against progress by the Roman ecclesiastical empire. Unfortunately for Galileo, inventor of the telescope, the Jenuits of the Roman Catholic empire taught that the world was fiat. Galileo said it was round. Called before the high tribunal of the Roman church, he was forced to recant on pain of imprisonment. He was forced to declare that he would "abide by the teachings of the church." A hrilliant man, Galileo was forced to return from Rome to his home in Florence, humiliated, discredited, disgraced and under suspicion. It was expedient that Galileo retract because the Roman church taught that the world was flat. But the Koman church was not through humiliating and punishing Galileo, who had had

the audacity to think otherwise than the pope decreed. When he wrote a book at a later date, in which he propounded certain views, which are now accepted by the entire world, he was again called to Rome and forced to appear before 'the Roman inquisition, and apologue pn his knees. lie was then placed In nominal confinement where he became blind. In countries where Jesuits are numerous and active in educational or civic affairs their pernicious influence always creates disturbances and disorders of various kinds. Old lines suggested for the prayer-

Why can t we all be like this wise old bird?" "f have no sympathy for a woman, a failure in. the home, who goes to a lub meeting and tells other women how to conduct their homes." This is the declaration of Joseph Scott made before members of the Advertising Cluh of Los Angeles. Joe Scott undoubtedly reflects commonly- accepted views of the Roman-Catholic corporation. Having been decorated by the pope, it is up to him to show that he is worthy of papal approval. The only time Rome is in wholehearted accord wkh the participation of women in public affairs is when they exert themselves in club work of a character sponsored by the Vatican.

It may be safely assumed that Joe Scott never throws out any flings at women who are boosting Roman Catholic corporation interests. A Klansman should be willing first to serve in the ranks and where the need is greatest, because that sort of service is one of the tests those who would lead must learn how to follow commands. How shall we know the fitness of any citizen for a high place of power and responsibility unless he first demonstrates his ability and his Americanism in some more lowly service. There is too much whoop and bellow in many persons and not enough obedience, stability, and perseverance in a just cause. Those who would lead must dtvelop within their own hearts, held by the sacred tie, the characteristics of leadership.
