"It may be added that organization that saves is not merely material it has life and thought and purpose. These must be welded into one overwhelming power which is to produce a national patriotic mind, rich in tradition and in racial instinct capable of guarding the national heritage from every attack, and bringing it to perfection." "The Klan has begun consciously to take up its great task of defending mankind against those who. under a camouflaged plea for a universal brotherhood and the absolute equity of all peoples regardless of race, instinct or ability, are seeking the destruction of true democracy." "The Klan has passed from the period of formation, simple problems and confused purposes, into the stage of conscious unity for the greatest task in all history." "We are looking into the history of the past two years in order that we may be the better prepared to carry on, and to meet with confident courage our multiplying enormous responsibilities." "I shall lay before you the great achievements of the Klan and likewise some of its mistakes, and I drawn from both." ', shall endeavor to point out lessons that can be drawn from both." "The Klan has developed along definite lines toward greater purposes than any of us at first comprehended." "I solemnly assure you, my fellow Klansmen, that we have just entered into the great battle our God has commissioned us to wage against the hosts of unrighteousness." The "Highly Intellectual.

RECENTLY, a writer in "America." a Roman Catholic magazine, said; "Have we not 'gone too far with this 'democracy in education' and 'an equal chance for every boy and girl' stuff?" The article clearly reflects the attitude of the Roman-hierarchy in that the writer deliberately states that higher education is for "the intellectual." In other words, it voices that theory always held by the Roman corporation that real education should be withheld from the masses, which of course, is the great aid which has afforded opportunity to the Roman

corporation to hold sway over the hordes of ignorant

In Europe.

"The hoi polloi have no place in a well conducted college," declares the writer. " 'Democracy in education' is perhaps the most absurd of all absurdities which we are asked to accept in the name of 'Americanism." Education in Its higher reaches. Is for the intellectual aristocrat, the man who Is 'best' because God has given him brains and he has elected to use them." When one stops to consider that, in the eyes of the Roman Catholic, all priests, bishops, cardinals and all other Roman Catholic dignitaries are "highly intellectual" and are "best" because "God has given them good brains and thy elect to use them," it is but a simple matter to see that the writer in The American would withhold all higher education from all but those "intellectual" men who would work to the interests of the Roman Catholic hierarchy.

Rome boasts that she never changes. This is but a

substantiation of her boast. The Roman corporat n has

ever endeavored, and succeeded to a vast degree, in with

holding education form the masses. Now she is so bold as to raise that question in America. True, the writer

In The American did not boldly say that which was evidently uppermost in his mThff, but he did reflect that at

titude so long held by the Roman ecclesiastical empire

It might be well to quote an opinion voiced by a Masonic

publication, on this subject:

"We favor the American public school, non-sectarian, non-partisan, efficient, democratic; for all the children

of all people; equal educational riurhts and opportunities

to all." says the Masonic publication. Thus do we find a most striking contrast in the fun

damental thoughts of the Masonic order and the Knights of Columbus. Since the growth of the Klan, the Knights

of Columbus have made every effort to appear on the most friendly terms with the Ma9ons and to inveigle the public into the belief that the causes of the Roman Cath

olic organization and the Masons are one. And yet. the school Is but one of the many, many things which create a chasm between the two organizations which is impossible to bridge One of the most striking- illustrations of the craftiness of the Roman Catholic heads, is that during the month

of November, the Knights of Columbus joined with the Masons in laying the cornerstone of a public school in Orange, New Jersey. Less than four years ago this same organization In an Illinois city, got out an injunction to stop the Masons from laying a cornerstone. Unfortunately, there are persons who believe this is a sincere change of heart instead of merely one episode in the great drama now being enacted by the Roman corporation in its futile attempt to stop the growth of

the Ku Klux Klan.

ARTICLE FIFTEEN (Each Article is separate in itself.) IN the preceding articles, of which this completes a set of fifteen articles on the intolerance now being practiced in America, by those forces opposing the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, it has been firmlv established that the Roman Catholic hierarchy has in the past, and

now is, practicing intolerance in a most malignant form, not only in Europe, but in America. In these articles it has been charged that its accusation against the Klan, that this

American organization is practicing intolerance, were merely subterfuges to rude its own intolerance. In establishing the fact that, while crying that the Klan is intolerant, the

Roman corporation is practiing theo

United States, facts and not theories

have been used.

The writer has clung only to the

authorized books of the Roman eccles

iastical empire, autlienticized statements of its prelates, intolereant aets of its followers as reported in the

metropolitan press, and substantiated

acts of violence against Klansmen and Protestants who were not Klansmen.

From the first the writer has con

tended that the great show of love

for the Masons by the Knights of Columbus was only a well laid plot to fool the people of America and to convey the idea that the Roman

church and the Roman organization are most tolerant and at the same time use the plot as the "psychological weapon" against the Klan. The writer has ever declared that no love is held for the Masons by the Roman organization. The writer is born out in his content on by Cardinal

founded on religious hatred. Nothing

is farther from the truth unless it be the Roman hierarchy itself and all informed and unbiased persons are aware that the Klan is founded on Christianity and American principles. The Roman corporation knows the Klan is not intolerant it knows, however, that the Klan is Protestant, and is a very strong Protestant organization. That in itself is enough to incur i he enmity of the pope and his many agents operating in America. The fact that the Klan is awakening Protestants to the menace of the Roman political machine as it is being operated in the United States, is more than enough to engage the fury of the hierarchy in an activity which will go to any end in an effort to

thwart the growth or influence of any organization, or individual, which raises a protest against the divers op-

It impresses nobody. It deludes and makes ludicrous the professing Catholic. . . . It is a plain and indisputable fact that Catholicism and Freemasonry are opposite poles, mutaully antagonistic to one another."

cluding the rack, the gibbet, the dungeon and burning fagots heaped at the base of a stake) has been legerdemain and auto-suggestion. The rack and the gibbet, and the stake, such

as was used to burn Joan of Arc (now a Saint in the Roman Catholic church) I are out of date in America; therefore, the Roman corporation is throwing auto-suggesition into the breach i" an effort to befuddle the American peo- j pie. Of course, the followers of the ! Roman potentate still rely on the

i lethal weapon as has been demon

ing out of the Vatican.

This series of articles has brought down the wrath of. the Roman machine on the head of the writer, and many letters of denunciation have been received, none of which, however, atempted to disprove any statement made. The letters merely stated the writers were "proud they were Catholics." that the writer of the articles was a liar, and many other uncomplimentary assertions. Roman Catholic Editor Writes. Among the letters received was one from Robert Hull, Associate editor of the Sunday Visitor, a Roman Catholic

In his letter yiull asreligion was being at

tacked, and asked that -a certain book be obtained to learn the "truth about the Catholic church." It so happened that .the book. "The American Hier

archy." an authorized Roman Catholic publication, was in the hands of the writer. Extracts from this particular book were then used in an ar

ticle, and prpved conclusively the con tentions made by the writer of these articles. Since that time no communication has been recalved from Hull. That the articles have been closely read by Roman CathoHes. as well as Protestants, has been proved by the

number of letters of denunciation.

The fact that at no time has any specific denial been made (despite the fact that time was taken to write the author of the articles) should furnish fitting proof that what has been said cannot be successfully denied. It is true there were denials at times, but they were just a general denial of the whole matter and no specific point touched on, nor any attempt to supply proof that what was said was not true.

The denials have ever been just like the Roman accusations against the Klan nothing to substantiate them. They each consist of a certain form of "blanket denunciations" or

"denials in general." The opposition has dealt in glittering .generalities only. The Roman ecclesiastical empire has taken it for granted that the American people believe all things on which it has based its unwarranted statements. That the tide has turned, however, and the public is beginning to realize the truth, is more than evident. Rome Fails Again. Nothing is more repugnant to the

American citizen than intolerance, and the fact that the Klan continues its growth and its moral influence, is proof that the Roman Catholic corporation has failed in its efforts to stigmatize the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan bv fastening intolerance on it. PAGES of history record the deeds of papal Home, when kingdoms and principalities have countenanced her cabal.- And. to the student of present-day affairs, evidence is not lacking that centuries have not changed the political tactics of Roman Catholicism. As an evidence of its aggressiveness. Dr. Goodrich, representative from Protest-a-nt Churches in France to the Federal Council of Churches, recently meeting in At

lanta, (la., has this to say: "In the capital of Latvia, which is Riga, there is a great church, formerly called the Cathedral "of Protestantism. When, during the election a few years ago. the Catholics came to bold the balance of powerIn the Latvia parliament the leader of the Catholic party demanded ihe handing over of the cathedral, which had been the center of Protestantism in the

Baltic. 'If you do not hand over the church we will smash your government.' be told the minister of the interior. "The result." added Dr. Goodrich, "is that the Protestant Cathedral in Riga is now the church of

a Roman Catholic archbishop." Roman Catholic political intrigue in Latvia is ad

vanced by the same papal arterial system that propels like activities In this country, circumscribed only by a limitation of the "balance of power" under their control.

With historical facts and actual occurences of the pres

- Education is the best thing-that can be given to a child, but the education given to children of the parochial school was established to save Romanism. The public school was emphasizing secular knowledge alone. Its purpose

was to develop the "mental faculties of the child. But the Roman Catholic church called the public school "godless." and it was. to the glory of the school that the intended stigma stuck to it. The dominant purpose of the parochial school is to teach the Roman

atholic religion. The catechim is the

important book in the school. It is pretty safe to say that the Constitution of the United States is not taught

in a parochial school. It is pretty safe to say that the glory of Roman

Catholicism is taught in a parochial school.

Is it more important that the Ro

man Catholic child should be taught that the pope Is infallible than it is that he should be instructed in the

history of the English language.' Is it more Important that the Roman Catholic child be taught to say "Hail Marv," than It Is that he should be

taught to read the Declaration ot tn-

lependence? is it more important

that the Roman Catholic child be

taught that It Is a sin to eat meat on Friday than it is that he should be taught to keep the Ten Command

ments?

The parochial school teaches as little

as possible of that which is calculated

to educate the child, ana as much as

possible that is calculated to stultify It. What goes on in a parochial school is not known to the public. It was established to give the children

of Roman Catholic parents instruction in their religion. What else it gives

them Is of little consequence to Romanism. To make Roman Catholics was the main object of the parochial

school; to stamp upon the plastic mind of the child the dogmas of the church, and to train the mind in the wavs of Roman Catholicism.

It was a crime against liberty, to

allow a parochial school in this coun

try, and It is a serious menace to free institutions to allow them to bring up the children of Roman Catholic parents to distrust everybody and everything outside of Romanism. The parochial school should be abol

ished. It teaches nothing except the Catholicism that is not better taught in the. public school, as hundreds of Roman Catholic can testify. There 1 nothing in the oathechism that Is ecaentlal to citizenship? nothing that make a man a better member .of the
