eral district court in which eighty five liquor law violators had been convicted in less than three weeks time, fined and given heavy jail sentences, some as high as $500, to which were added two years in jail. Violators are receiving such heavy fines and jail sentences, the severity of which is without precedent in this court, and the percentage of convictions running so nearljt 100 per cent, that defendants are now seeing the wis

dom of pleading guilty, and such pleas are ceiming in by the dozens, and the end is not yet for the flood still continues. All this is very gratifying to the better class of citizens and its effects were strikingly noticeable during the hoIidays. More citi

zens celebrated in church watoh j parties.'' Christmas programs, and i other church social activities than ever before. The absence of lawlessness was noticeable throughout the holiday season in Peoria except in a few isolated cases where road-house proprietors allowed indecency and debauchery in their places of business.

Drivers of police ambulance cars who have served as such for fifteen to twenty years say that in pre-prohibi-tion days they were lvept' busy answering riot calls, but that this was the quietest holiday season of their long career. And still some people inojiire "what good has the Klan done Peoria?" Klan Is Reorganizing.
