Confuse Protestants; Nation Is Awakening

(Continued from Page 1) Every club, league, organization of this stripe is conceived, formed and- financed by the Roman political corporation. Unsuspecting or dishonest Protestants are being employed as speakers and in most cases as officers cf these organizations. This is more camouflage. The object aimed at never could be put over if the public read that Mike O'Connell, Roman Catholic, was the speaker or the president of the organization. The Roman corporation bungles many things, but credit must be given that it knows how to fool the public. These Roman Catholics select Eiihu Roots, E. P. Morrows, Ben B. Lindseys and disgruntled, discredited former members of the Klan organization to put over these clubs and leagues and to write books of alleged exposes cf the 'inner workings of the Klan organization." In E. P. Morrow's address at Fort Wayne, in his attempt to "float" the Watchmen of the Republic, there was not a constructive sentence that every Klansman in the nation does not stand behind, indorse and uphold. His address might easily have been taken from the constitution and by-laws of the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan. If the Watchmen cf the Republic really, truly, absolutely stood for what Mr. Morrow said in his address, every Klansman of the nation would be behind him. But this splendid speech is absolute camouflage. Back of it all is an attempt of the Roman Catholic machine to put over the idea that the Klan movement is opposed to the things advocated by Americans. Mr. Morrow, former governor of Kentucky, is too smart a man to be fooled by this machine. In this movement, it is charitable to say of him and his work that he is simply acting as an attorney for the fee that he gets out of it. Lawyers, it seems, have no choice cn which side of the case they are cast. If it is in defense of a murderer, a thief, a bootlegger, apparently they work as ardently to acquit him, as their brother lawyer on the other side to convict him. It i3 a fine thing in American jurisprudence that a man stands not guilty before the court until convicted. We would have no law, justice or protection were it not for this, but many a man escapes punish

It would sur-' 1 prii-c even Mr. Morrow if he had the iigures in front of him ot how many Protestant Americans have been killed, maimed, stoned, persecuted, boycotted, prevented from peaceably assembling, under the right of the constitution, of which he prates po much about in his Fort Wayne speech, simply because these Protestant Americans were .supposed to be members of a Protestant organization known as the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan. Mr. Morrow could have this information if he desired it. It is public property and as a lawyer and a former governor of one of the great states of the Union, Mr. Morrow, if he were honest in what he professes, would know this to be true. His movement is un-American, built on a foundation of misrepresentation and can not stand.

Indianapolis parents have only two alternatives. They can S"nd ihtlr children to crowded, unsanitary public high schools or permit them to attend laine, roomy Roman- Catholic institutions, where Catholicism is mixed with daily lessons by priestly teachers.

Mexico and other such lands tell ui)(nat there is no civil or religious liberty for ProtestantisrAwhere Rome can control the situation. The effort is beuig made in this country of ours to put Rome in a positicnto dictate to all groups and classes of people. It insistshat political parties shall denounce and crush all organizations that even exnress suspicion of Rome as a political propagandist. It insists that the public schools shall be carried cn according to Rome's good pleasure, although it denounces the nublic schools at every turn; demanding that the public schools shall irreligiously ignore God's Word, and then denouncing them still further for being irreligious. "It may be that, at some time, the entire people of this country will awaken to the danger that is threatened by Rome s ambition for political domination. It may be, too that at some time Rome will see the uselessness of trying' to play its double game. Until that time arrives it will be well for all true Americans really to be on guard "
