PRESS REPORTS WRONG AS USUAL

The above is a picture taken at the big Wayne county meeting of the KuKlux Klan near Detroit on October 20. A gigantic class of candidates was naturalized in the initiation ceremonies at this time.

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Nov. 5. An instance of the manner in which the

subsidized press of the country han-J

dies stories regarding persecutions of the Ku Klux Klan have come to light here this week. The Ku Klux Klan shop, opened in Kansas City for the purpose of selling patriotic and Ku Klux Klan papers and magazines and novelties, had been in op

eration for three days when the front of the store was wrecked by anti-Klan operators, who hurled bricks through the store windows. Proprietors of the establishment repaired the damage done by the culprits and continued to do business, regardless of the fact that the press

of the city gave out the information

that the store had "packed its wares and left." " ADDRESS ALL MAIL TO FIERY CROSS NOT TO INDIVIDUALS.

The gang was composed of the husbands of two women insulted by the optician and three of their brothers. Walker is a Knight of Columbus, and it is said that after a conference with the local Catholic priest, he decided to place the blame on the Ku Klux Klan. He was given the pontifical blessing for his charge. Husbands of the women insulted gave the Romanized press of this city -a true statement of facts. One of the men is a Catholic and none

of the men were connected with the Klan, according to their own state

ments. The local press failed to print the truth of the matter, and

used Walker s statement that "Kians

men did it." The Catholic-controlled news services sent the same story all over the country, but the true story was sent to patriotic papers in all parts df the country.

partment of justice plans for estab

lishment here of a central criminal bureau of identification to co-operate with Scotland Yard and other foreign agencies, has progressed to the point where Congress will be asked for an appropriation of $100, 000 as an. initial fund for the work, Attorney-General Daugherty said recently. Records of the federal penitentiaries already are being assembled for concentration here, subject to the approval by Congress of the program.

the mountain of fame. It was here

our public school system was established. What is the public school? It is where the American eagle perches upon the desk of every little cherub; it i3 the school where the Declaration of Independence is held in reverence; it is where ihe folds of the American flag twine about every branch of instruction; it is where you find future presidents, and boys who will climb the dizzy heights of fame in the future. The public schools of America God bless them, are where the tiny minds begin to soar, where the great men and good women of this country first learn the alphabet that leads to

fame. The miblic schools of Amer

ica are where the boys and girls are

taught to love their government for its manifold blessings; where "Yankee Doodle" and "Dixie" set the little hearts aglow and cause shouts to echo and re-echo from hill and dale. It is not the clergy, but the govern

ment, which holds the Bell-Rope. Not only has the Public Free School System been established, but freedom of religious belief and worship has been secured, also the highest branches of education are being fos

tered. Visit our Public Free School, run by the free and untrammeled powers of Protestants ; question even the small boy and girl of tender age

in the public schools of this ccun-1 try;- they are taught everything that tends to make patriotic, useful .men and women, wiho have lifted- America head and . shoulders above every other nation on earth. This nation is not to be turned backward, or that which -has been done for freedom - be undone; man stands today at the wheel of liberty;

his foot is on the stair of jirogres-i ;

ia his grasp he carries the banner of hope; he goes forward, not to be nailed to the cross of defeat, but to win for his brow the crown of victory. Any intelligent Protestant knows that when you educate a" man to believe he can be saved .without the

living God, that he is not a true American citizen, for it is impossible to be true to his country and at the same time believe that his exist

ence on earth and in eternity depends upon a foreign mortal. God holds the American people responsible for flattering wrong; they know better. "If any man worship the beast, he shall drink of ti;e wine of the wrath of God." Americans, arouse yourselves; don't be cowards, for God hates

nothing worse than cowardice in His eause. Let us be true and we shall

have the help of God and the bless

ings of the true and the noble of earth. Mrs. J. W. Northrup, in The New Age. .
