(Continued from Page 1) munists will make greater efforts

than they have at any time in the past to get possession of them. The movement is aimed not only at the labor unions, but the entire industrial structure of the country and with this single aim of eventually establishing a Soviet dictatorship in the United States and converting the country into a vassal colony of the Communist. International at Moscow. It is a situatioiTthat challenges not only organized labor, but every employer as well. This is one occasion when labor and employer might very well join hands and fight together instead of fighting each other." Foreigners Challenge Rights This is one of the most important things that the Klan is today fighting in America. The Klan knows that with the gates closed against immigration that this situation can not grow worse. The Klan is fully aware that the foreigners now in this country have challenged the right of na

tive-born Americans to believe religiously as they wish, to organize as they wish to assure the perpetuity of American principles. The Ku Klux Klan has full knowledge that its members, strong in the determination to uphold the constitution, have been stoned, mobbed, shot, murdered and brutally assaulted when in peaceful and lawful meeting. They have been stormed by aliens who hate the Protestant; by aliens who have come to this country when oppressed by n power perpetuated by themselves and upon ar

riving here, instead of adopting

American customs and advanced beliefs, attempted to force their ancient dogmas on free-born Americans. The amalgamated enemies of Am

erica, whose tentacles reach throughout the worlds would load America

with this class of which the mine

workers' report speaks because these enemies want ignorance. They have created it, or rather fostered it, in the countries from which these disturbers come. Ignorance is the absence of knowledge, just as darkness is the absence of light. When one reviews the mob violence in America within the last few months, wherein men have been assaulted and killed for no other reason than that they were native-born Protestant Americans, one comes to a clearer understanding of the import of the long statement given out by the mine workers' union. "Labor Officials hnld Know" ' In speaking of the charge made by the mine workers, a dispatch out of Chicago recently stated: "Other labor organizations in this country have made the same charge. Presumably the labor officials know what they are talking about. It is certain that officials of the United States government, like Secretary of War Weeksand Secretary Denby of the Navy, know what they are talking about when they say they have proof on hand of communistic designs on the United States," Slowly but surely the country at large is beginning to understand the importance of the Klan. It is beginning to realize that the principles of the Klan and those alone will save America for Americans. The fact that it is apparent that leaders of organized labor are now beginning to appreciate the fact that the Ku Klux Klan is their friend and the friend of the labor unions isust one more fact that is being established in the minds of the citizens of America in connection with that

wonderful organization that is now striving in the face of the organized opposition to all things American to save the country for posterity and the descendants of true Americans.

MOB ATTACKS KLAN MEETING AT READING

(Continued from Page 1) crowds inside came Into the streets, they filtered through those who had been held outside. - Desperate Fighting Starts As those who had attended the meeting began leaving the touifding, they were met with Jeers and threats by the aliens lined ut a

short distance from the entrance. One of the most desperate, thrilling fights

that occurred here was between: two aliens who each thought the otheT to be a Klansman. The police then succeeded in stopping the attack on the Americans, and the throwing of brickbats by the alien mobbers, and it was after midnight when the

trouble again started as alleged

Klansmen who had attended the meeting began to leave a restaurant where they had gone to eat before leaving for home. The mob had gathered near the restaurant, having been given the word that Americans were on the inside. It was as these men attempted to go to Their machines that the mob again started its assault. It was then that McGovern is reported to have said to one of the alleged Klansmen, "You had to leave some time and I'll get you now." He then struck the man and rioting again

started. There were now but six

alleged Klansmen and they battled

their way to their machines under a

rain of blows and succeeded in getting started. Police Gl?e Chase

The mobbers than ran to a string

of machines parked along the curb

ing and gave chase. By this time the police were again on the scene

and gave chase to the gangsters fol

lowing the leading machines which

were being pelted with stones from

aliens standing on the running boards of the pursuing cars. The

alleged Klansmen, it was soon seen, were headed for the city hall, but the pursuing machines filled with

aliens maneuvered to balk them and ;

the chase through the streets lasted almost one-half hour before the ma-

chines of the alleged Klansmen drew up at their destination, with a long string of machines filled with gangsters immediately behind them, followed by the cars of the officers. Addition police now showed up on the scene and the mobbers were again routed. It was almost two o'clock in the morning before the last alleged Klansmen left the city hall, escorted by police, for their homes.

It will prove a most fitting climax

In that year the membership in Indiana will mount to more than 1,000,000 members as that is the goal

tests against the Ku Klux Klan on the ground that it is an un-American

institution.

I know absolutely nothing about

the Ku Klux Klan from the inside, for I have never been, am not and

never shall be a member. But it

does not take more than one eye, and

that not wide open, to see that most , of the enemies of the Ku Klux Klan

are mainly the enemies of the Prot- 1

estant churches and of prohibition, of the public school, and of the American conscience and the American constitution generally.

Propaganda Against Y. M. C. A. "I do not approve of lawlessness.

whether committed by Klan members or anybody else. I think the Klan will probably some day recog

nize the need of taking due steps to.

protect itself against representatives

of this politico-ecclesiastical outfit putting on hoods and robes themselves and committing crimes for the purpose of. having them charged to the Klan. Organizations like Tammany and the anti-Protestant politico-ecclesiastical combination behind it are doing more to recruit the Klan at the present time than anything

else. And aside from the public school question, things like the Knights of Columbus propaganda against the Young Men's Christian Association as a blow at the Protestant churches, and now the attempt

to disrupt the Anti-Saloon League as

the agency of these churches by dis

crediting and ruining its officiajs, seem destined to obtain for the Klan

church backing of a sort that

would otnerwise have been impossible.

Voices Preference for Klan "And further, notwithstanding the falsehoods already uttered and certain to be uttered to the effect that I have endorsed the Klan, I have no hesitation in saying that as between

"Tammany and the so-called religious

influences behind it on one hand and the Klan on the other, I Infinitely prefer the Klan without knowing a thing about it: The church was crowded to capacity to hear the speaker who has been in the limelight through the efforts of certain interests to indict him and his leadership of the dry interests in New York.

The following is a copy of a letter sent to Governor Walton of Oklahoma from the Indiana county in which he was born and reared : Jack Calaway Walton, Oklahoma City, Okla. Dear Sir: We are aware of the fact that you are a Henry county product, and we wish to inform you that there are more members of the K. K. K. in Henry county than there are in the whole state of Oklahoma, and feeling as you do about the K. K. K. we sincerely hope you remain in Oklahoma. Respectfully yours, Protestant American Women. In speaking about the comparative number of Klansmen in Henry county and Oklahoma, the writer of the letter evidently referred to a time before Jack opened his "fight on the Klan." Jack did a . wonderful job of swelling Klan membership, especially in Oklahoma.
