WILL IIAVE FIERY CROSS NEXT TIME
AMSTERDAM, Ind., Sept. 3. The announcement that a well-known 'speaker would give an address on the Knights ot the Ku Klux Klan here drew one ot the largest crowds ever gathered In the history of this place and the speaker was received with enthusiastic applause both before' and after his address. Preparations were not made in ad-
vanoe to burn a fiery cross, but the
town is promised a bigger and better meeting in the near future and it is
thought by many that the membership will be greatly increased by that time, and that there will be more than one cross burned at that time.

JOHN MULLIN MAKES TRIP TO PROSECUTOR
(Continued from Pago 1) tents and purposes the head ot the whole police department Jerked up before the prosecutor for having driven a stolen car for almost two years and using a license tag which was purchased for a touring car while the machine driven by Mullin is a sedan.
What Has Czar Donel What has Chief Rikhotf done about this? He has kept his mouth closed
tight. He is sitting tight waiting for the storm to break. It is alleged that he has said that, "if anyone
squaks he will open wide up. Just what does the alleged chief of police of Indianapolis mean? With crime waves, as he was pleased to call the riot "of banditry that engulfed the city, making the streets of the city unsafe for those who pay taxes for
protection, members of his police force were actively using that time paid for by the citizens, in collecting money for the un-American Unity League to use in its fight to crush Protestantism. While the captain of hi traiSc squad, Mike Glenn, evkeeper of a notorious "joint," was in conference with Joe Roach, an assassin, planning to conduct "raids" on news
boys, Czar Rikhoff was busy with other members of the tribunal, plot
ting to throw each and every Mason
on the police department, out of it. In this connection comes the Prophet of Hate, Fire Chief O'Brien. This latter member of the secret tribunal wherein things against Protestantism are planned and connivings to "get" certain members of the fire and police department are carried on, was allowed to use Tomllnson Hall to herald to the world his campaign-of hate. These are the men permitted to
.operate the most important departments in the city administration. ! These two men instead of trying to
1 make as near perfect as possible i their departments for the protection of the citizens of Indianapolis from I fire and banditry, spend their time
in disrupting tne departments. Limber Lunged Lew's "Hot" Trail Limber Lunged Lew says he is satisfied with Czar Rikhoff. By this he can only mean that he is satisfied with the head of the detective department using a stolen car and camouflaging it with a spurious license tag spurious in so much that it was taken from a city touring car. Limber Lunged Lew is satisfied with the action of Czar Rikhoff in
laying off two men because they sought to secure evidence in connection with a murder that to date all the action taken by the police de
partment in this connection is for Limber Lunged Lew, together with his bodyguard, Captain Sherlock Pope, who takes pictures of golf links for evidence in a hearing on water rates, officers McMurtry and Glenn, take a wild ride to Greencastle on a "hot" trail. Lieut. McGee and Patrolman Bedford are now under suspension because of the fact that they went to a small town while investigating the murder. Their trials before the board of safety -have been set for
September 18. These, two men are to be tried for "neglect of duty and in
subordination." Because they were
attempting to conduct investigation
which would lead to the arrest of a
cold-blooded murderer!
It can hardly be called' peculiar
that these two men are Protestants. The names of these two men no doubt came before the "secret tribunal." As a result they are now suspended for "neglect of duty and insubordination." Right at the time when John "Greenlawn" Mullin is jerked into the proscutor's office for driving a stolen car. What about Mullin? Why wasn't O'Donnell prosecuted? What about the locked room in the police station? Does Czar Rikhoff know anything about that? If he doesn't, why doesn't he? Does he know what is going on in it? If not, why not?
IF YOU ARE NOT SO HUNGRY RIGHT NOW
Does Rikhoff Know Anything? Is Chief Rikhoff, police chief of Indianapolis or is he merely the head of a "secret tribunal" that is being operated for the benefit of a
oertain class and to the detriment
of Protestantism In this city? Is he using his police department to further the ends of the un-American Unity League or to protect the citi
zens of this city? Is he familiar with laws covering stolen goods which includes stolen automobiles? This alleged chief of police, titular head of a department that rides roughshod over the rights of citizens and where affidavits are changed to suit; where the head of the detective department rides in a stolen automobile and where an ex-prize-fight trainer is given one of the fastest cars in the police department to make nocturnal visits to sagE himself; where preju
dice, hate ud spite take the place of . . . i ! 1 ... I .. 1 . 1 . 1 1 1
juBiicB, is a mjBui mai suuuiu never have been put in the office he now holds, or at least, thrown out when
the whole department began to crumble. Information for the Czar It might be well for Chief Rikhoff to have the knowledge that there is but one person who can speak for the Ku Klux Klan in Indiana, and that-person is the Grand Dragon of Indiana. His apparent lack of knowledge on other matters gives rise to the belief that he may not have had the knowledge just imparted. This information may be
used by him in the future. Also it might be added that if it is used while he Is the alleged chief of po
lice of this city, he will have to use it at a not distant date.

A Big Proposition This community house, which will be the only one of Its kind in Indiana, is such a big proposition that it is going to take persistent campaigning for funds, much advertising and the individual financial and moral support of the Protestants of the state to put it across. The leading spirits in the movement have already surmounted many of the initial difficulties incident to a big un
dertaking of this kind, and have al-1 ready demonstrated that they pos
sess the necessary determination to accomplish their purpose. There is just one way to finish any job, that's to stay with it until it is completed, and that's what these men and women are going to do. While the locality in the vicinity of this proposed community house is not in any sense, a. "slum" district, an institution of this charaoter is badly needed. There are ten thousand Protestant children in the neighborhood who can and will undoubtedly benefit from this institu
tion, to say nothing of the many benefits it will offer to the adults of
this city and surrounding Indiana towns, as adequate hotel accommodations will be maintained for out-of-town guests.
Even children whose home sur
roundings are all that could be desired will find in this institution a delightful playhouse, where they
may enjoy clean, healthful recrea
tion: In a wholesome, Christian atmosphere there will be nurtured the healthy American growth, which
will speedily develop a better
American citizenship in the coming
generation.
If you have not already donated
something to this entirely worthy,
practical, and commendable enter
prise, just ' think about .the thing.
You'll probably decide to sacrifice some little luxury if necessary and
send a $1.00 bill with the coupon beneath to the Liberty Hall fund.

Moe Ginder, a Jew, who is also
said to be a member ot the Masonic and Odd Fellow lodges, is said to have carefully planned and organized the aliens. He has not been arrested
although he went to the hall fn which the Klansmen were meeting and ordered them to disperse. Upon their refusal to do so, the mob was turned loose. Two priests in the mob stood on boxes and cheered on the rioters.
Upon the arrival of the police tear
bombs were used. These were thrown into the hallway of the building instead of into the mob, it is" charged. Firemen arriving -on the scene with supposed aid. to the police turned on streams of water. These streams, it is charged, instead of being turned on the rioters were
turned into the hallway of the building in which the Klansmen were meeting. Klansmen that were guaranteed protection by. the police if they left the building, were turned
loose in the 'mob,' It is charged. Lodge Fins Brought Assaults As an illustration of what can bo accomplished by determined men bent on dispersing a mob, ten members of the state constabulary arrived on the scene and in ten minutes had. the rioters dispersed. For some reason which has not been explained the state police were ordered from the 'scene. Immediately upon their departure, the rioting began again. This time the leaders ordered followers to go through the crowd
and line up every man that had on a
lodge button. These men were un
mercifully beaten.
Among the Klansmen were a few who had secured permits to carry revolvers for various reasons. These guns were thrown away by the Klansmen immediately upon the start of the riot in an effort to avoid the starting of gun battles which would lead to more bloodshed. One Klansman was seen to throw away a gun immediately after having been struck in the1 face with a pair of brass 'ijinucks" worn by one of the alien attackers. The Klansmen did everything possible to keep from making matters worse and looked to the police for protection. Only three men were arrested by the police. Two of these, M. A. Pitrock and W. C. Gray, are alleged Klansmen. The other man is W. R. Morford. All are charged with exciting a riot and flourishing pistols. Their trials were set today.
