Large Class Initiated -Near Buffalo, New York

Everybody Was In Tipton That Night

BUFFALO. N. Y.. Aug. 20. A large class of candidates were initiated into the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan near here on last Friday night.

-The initiation took place on the outskirts of the village ot Hamburg. Automobiles, estimated at close to BOO in number, assembled in a semicircle and supplied the illumination for the event, which was accompanied by the usual flaming cross. This is the second ceremonial the Klan -has staged here in the past week.

TIPTON, Ind., Aug. 20. It was announced Saturday that the meeting to be held at the Prairie town

ship school last Thursday, which was postponed on account of the big meeting in Tipton Thursday night, would be held Tuesday of next week. A program consisting of musical numbers and a apeaker from state headquaters has been arranged for the evening. The general public Is Invited to this meeting at which the principles of the Klan will be dlBcussed by the speaker.

20. Sixty-three candidates were Initiated into the Knights of the Ku

Klux Klan here Friday night by members of the Danville, Illinois,

drill team. The meeting was a county gathering of - Montgomery

Klan No. 23, and was one ot the largest and most enthusiastic meeting held here.

The splendid drill team from the Illinois realm gave the work in full

ritualistic form, and all went off

smoothly. The big meeting waa held

on a farm south of town, and Crawfordsville presented an almost deserted appearance while the ceremonies were going 'on. Cars and trucks rumbled through the streets of the city far after midnight, bear

ing the returning TClansmen, their musical instruments and equipment

Memorial Services Beautiful memorial services for

the late President Harding were held

here last week, conducted by the Reverend Hand, local Klan speaker, and a former Sunday school student of Warren Q. Harding. The services

were jointly held by Montgomery Klan and the Ladies Order and de

spite the terrific storm which bin

dered the services, there was a large

crowd present. Following the services, a huge cross was burned.

state talr. Elaborate preparations are now being made to make it the

biggest dayTexas has ever known, and from reports already being received from different communities who will send large delegations of Klansmen, the preparations will not be in vain. The program of the day, which will be open to all, will be full of many attractions and features of all kinds and a gigantic parade will take place in which thousands of Klansmen in tall regalia will participate. . Speakers and Band Concerts Many speakers of note will be on

the program of the day's festivities and among them will be Imperial

wizara Evans and others high up! in Klan circles. Band concerts will

be given both afternoon and evening and other musical features will be held, including bugle and drum corps contests. One of the outstanding features will be the initiation of an enormous class of candidates, which will take place in the evening under the glow of many large fiery crosses, and which will be followed by a display of Klan fireworks.

All Klandom is agog with anticipation of the coming event, and there is no doubt but what the fair grounds will be crowded to capacity on that day.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn., Aug. 20. Reports by the ministers of the Protestant churches of this city and suburbs show a steadily increasing membership and- mounting attendance records. The local Klan is in receipt of many letters from ministers of various denominations in this city, expressing their high appreciation of the co-operation and backing being so generously given to the churches-by Klansmen. Klan Leads Movement

The Klan-has led in a movement among local Klans to get every Protestant man in the city to attend

a rrotescant cnurcn service" every Sunday, and to actively affiliate with some men's Bible class. ,A searching question is directed to Klansmen

along this line at every week's Klon

klave, and every Klansman reports

on his church attendance. The re

suits within recent weeks have been

remarkable and many hundreds have

become active church workers. An Aroused Interest

Tils aroused interest and activity among Klansmen in behalf of the Christian Protestant churches ot the

city and suburbs has already begun

to be felt among men not Klansmen

and many are the testimonials reaching the Klan of the immeasurable

good being accomplished.

FAIR KLAN DAY AT FRANKFORT AUG. 22

ing of Klansmen and friends here Tuesday night, outlining the princi

ples for which the organisation stood. An electrically Illuminated fiery cross and the flag decorated the

platform from which he spoke. That

tne Klan was a pro organization and

fostered no hat for any creed, race or peoples, was the contention of the speaker. The Klan stood for the best

interests of the country first, last and always, he exclaimed. His address was enthusiastically received.

Arrangements are now being made by the Knights ot the Ku Klux Klan to hold a large open-air meeting here on the 25 th and there will be speak tng by nationally-known speakers besides a large parade of Klansmen in full regalia. gathered in this county met last Friday to pay tribute to the memory of the late President. Automobiles came in a steady stream for hours and traffic was regulated by Klans

men in full regalia. -

At the gate of the large field

where the meeting took place, light was given by three lights in the

shape of a cross, and back in- the

field at the edge ot the woodland stood the speakers' stand over which the light from a forty-foot fiery cross threw Its glow. Nearby was a large American flag at half mast. Many prominent speakers took the Btand and each paid a loving tribute to the beloved President, now laid to rest, and the hymn rendered by thousands of voices made a very solemn and impressive ceremony.
