BULLETIN
LEXINGTON, Ky., Aug. 14. Dr. E. H. Lougher, arrested here on August 1 immediately following the recitation of the Lord's prayer and the singing of the national anthem, and whose case was taken under advisement on last Friday, was fined $200 and costs by Judge Joseph H. Bullock. It was stated here today
by attorneys for the defendant that the case will be appealedsummer camps will be conducted.
and taken to as many courts as is necessary to establish the right of free speech." Judge Bullock is considered a "protege" of Mayor Bradley, who is responsible for the situation, and is expecting the aid of the mayor at the next election, it is understood. Dr. Lougher is at liberty on a $200 appeal bond.
(By Eyewitness) Three dollars will lje the fees for
the Junior Klan!
This announcement was made
simultaneously with the word that was given out that national headquarters for the junior organization had been opened in Indianapolis. As
in the senior organization, the location of the headquarters will not be given out. However, mail directed to Lock Box 1622, Indianapolis, will reach officials at headquarters. Also, Lock Box 995, Columbus, Ohio, may be addressed. Another feature of the junior organization, and which will no doubt be welcomed by the vast army of
potential members, is that each year

Owing to the confusion that seemingly exists among certain readers of The Fiery Cross, this paper wishes to announce that the stock being1 sold in this city in a proposed company to operate a daily Protestant newspaper in Indiana, has no connection whatsoever with The Fiery Cross. The Protestant daily paper, to be known as the Hoosier Independent, the announcement of which appeared In The Fiery Cross several weeks ago, wiH sell no stock and now has ample funds with which to start the project. The Post-Telegram has absolutely no connection, cither direct or indirect, with The Fiery Cross or the Hoosier independent. We are requested to ask that persons who have bought stock in the so-called Post-Telegram communicate by mail or phone with Earl Logan, care Secretary of State's office.

(By Wingfoot) LEXINGTON, Ky., Aug. 13. Never before in the memory of the present generation in this city has there been the indignation manifest as is now felt in this city following the arrest of Dr. E. H. Lougher on August 1 as he stood on the courthouse steps of this city immediately following his having led an assemblage in the Lord's prayer and the singing of the first verse of "America." The intense feeling found vent in a big protest meeting here on last Wednesday night, at which resolutions were adopted condemning the actions of the police and decrying the incident which brought disgrace to the city.
The protest meeting was held on
the night immediately preceding the beginning of the trial at which many witnesses were heard and which lasted over until Friday. At the conclusion of the hearing of the evidence Judge Joseph H. Bullock took the case under advisement. Dr. Lougher is at liberty on bond. Intense Interest in Trial Intense interest centered in the trial and this interest was given a boost when it was testified by one witness that he saw a Catholic priest give the order to the policeman who
arrested Dr. Lougher. The arrest of Dr. Lougher took place on the night of August 1 when he attempted to speak to a crowd of 4.000 persons as he stood upon the courthouse stops. The arrest followed the orders of Mayor T. C. Bradley, who has assumed the role of a despot in attempting to deny American citizens the right of free speech. County officials had given the speaker the right to use the courthouse steps and the high-handed methods of the local officials, which are now being condemned on every side, was almost
beyond the belief of the citizens of Lexington who feel deeply the disgrace of this arrogant and un-American act. Dr. Lougher had spoken less than five minutes and, according to persons who were in the audience, had said absolutely nothing that could in any way be construed as "riotous conduct." He had not mentioned the Ku Klux Klan when interrupted by the police. The arrest was simply
fin act of an arrogant and despotic official, and the outcome of insidious Influences now at work to undermine
the institutions of America and to
drag down her ideals in favor of a
flevastating foreign political ring optrating in this country, as in others Under the cloak of religion. Repeats Lord's Prayer; Arrested
When the speaker was arrested
and dragged off to jail, he was lib
trated on a $100 bond after being
charged with inciting a riot. C. C
Bosworth, of the sheriff's office, went
n the bond. Dr. Lougher then re
iurned to the courthouse where the
jrowd awaited him and led the gathring in the Lord's prayer which was followed by the singing of one verse

Letters from every part of the
United States are now Jjeing received and the enthusiasm displayed is exceedingly gratifying to those who are working diligently to get the organization into motion. Letters from Oklahoma, Florida, New York, Connecticut, Michigan, Oregon, South Dakota, Colorado, Arizo
na, Vermont and other states, including all those states close to Indiana, have been received from young Americans eager to become affiliated with this new organization.
Qualifications for Membership Among the qualifications for membership, it was announced, will be an understanding of the meaning of the constitution. All applicants will be required to have a knowledge of
the constitution and a study of this
great document will be required. The
organization will teach patriotism and will be along military lines, inasmuch as it will teach discipline
and patriotism. It will inculcate
into the members a desire to live clean and wholesome lives, keep the laws of our land and honor the flag.
The summer camps to be con

be given during the duration of the camps. These camps will be under the charge of senior Klansmen who
will be chosen for the positions by their fitness to conduct such affairs.
The Junior Klan will be self-sup
porting from within, which will be
one of the outstanding features of an organization of this kind. The or
ganization will be compact and most efficiently officered ; these two things,
coupled with the fact that it will always be supported from within, lend much to its future.
At each meeting there will be three
senior Klansmen to guide the Jun

hitch and everything running
smoothly. The help of the senior Klansmen Will mean much to the Juniors.

CLINTON, Ind., Aug. 13. A handbill aimed at the Ku Klux Klan, and said to have been passed around the streets by J. W. Slattery, made its
appearance in Clinton last week. The text of the circular is supposed to be an excerpt from a sermon delivered
by Rev. Lynn Harold Hough, of Detroit, and the handbill credits the Detroit Free Press, of July 9, as having printed it. "I would rather belong to a free love cult than become a member of the Ku Klux Klan," the minister is credited with saying.
Citizens who read the bill evidenced no surprise, in view of the fact that many others would rather do the same thing. In fact, many
have, if w-e are to believe the lurid tales in the newspapers telling ef the escapades of such cults and their members. Agrees With Klan Rev. Hough is. further reported as saying, "If America Is to survive you and I must repudiate any organ
ization which is alii ciiciny to the lun-
damental principles of our country. In this latter statement, Rev. Hough agrees with the members of the Klan, but they have beaten Rev.
Hough to it by having already repudiated organizations who are "enemies to the fundamental principles of our country." About 1,000 of the handbills were distributed to amuse the citizens of Clinton.

(By Radio) DETROIT, Mich., Aug. 14.The Klan wave has engulfed Michigan ! Coming as a giant tidal wave from the sister states to the south, this wave of Americanism has crashed through the barrier of propaganda'built by
alien forces, and has flooded the
entire state in the face of all: opposition. The shining light of truth has pierced the wall of prejudice built by insidious influences, by the use of slander, propaganda, and all other
means available to throttle true Americanism. Michigan, however, is coming into her own. The bright light of the fiery cross is blazing the way of pa
triots of the Wolverine state who would place their allegiance to the stars and stripes above any other earthly allegiance. Reports from
counties in each section of the state show unbounded enthusiasm. This enthusiasm has reached the height
that it has been found necessary to publish a Michigan edition of The Fiery Cross, the leading Klan paper of America. During the past two weeks more candidates have been initiated than in any one month before, and applications for membership are increas
ing at a rapid rate. During the past week a ceremonial was held in De
troit at which more than 300 candidates took the oath of Americanism beneath the splendor of the symbolic fiery cross. From Niles, Dowagiac, Sturgis, Grand Rapids, Cassopolis, St. Joseph and other cities throughout the state come glowing' reports of the pi ogress being made.
3,500 Candidates Initiated On the Dixie Highway, south of Monroe, a mammoth class of '3,500
were naturalized in the initiation ceremonies of the Invisible Empire last week, and it is reported that another such ceremony will take place in the near future. In Lansing, the state capital, where much opposition has been experienced, membership in the order has taken a sudden spurt that has been most pleasing, and initiation ceremonies are becoming very frequent. Activities near Hartford have be
come much more pronounced in the last few weeks and the membership in Cass county is reported as past the 1,000 mark.
At a meeting in South Bend, Ind.,
recently, the interest in the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan by residents of this state was clearly shown by the hundreds of automobiles bearing Michigan license plates. An Adroit Camouflage The people of this state are beginning to realize that the fight being waged against the Klan is merely an adroit camouflage behind which lie those alien influences that would destroy the forces of Protestantism. (By Stan Correspondent) TIPTON, Ind., Aug. 14. After a meeting of the board of directors of the Tipton County Free Fair, held at noon today, it was decided that the truck owned by The Fiery Cross newspaper, of Indianapolis, should remain on the grounds. The meeting today was necessitated by action taken last night by interests opposed to the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, when riders were sent over the county notifying Catholics not to attend the fair because
of the truck being on the grounds. Today the fair is under boycott following the midnight rides in the interests of those alien Influences that are battling against the onward marching Klan in its fight for the survival of Protestantism. The Midnight Ride At midnight last night members of the board of directors were called from their beds and notified of the

Demonstration at New

NEW ROSS, Ind., Aug. 14. There will be a demonstration by the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan in this town on Wednesday night, August 16.
Present indications point to a very large crowd being here as word has been received from many points that Klansmen from those places intend to be on hand.
NORTH VERNON, Ind., Aug. 13. Services were held here by the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan in memory of President Harding, on last Friday night. About 1,500 Klansmen were present at the services which were led by a local minister. Following a short sermon by the minister the entire assemblage knelt in silent prayer. In keeping with the tactics employed by a certain undesirable element here, which is antagonistic to
the Ku Klux Klan, a gang of row
dies stationed itself at the gate of
the field where the services were
held and enjoyed itself by hooting and jeerins as the members entered and departed after paying their sol
emn respects to the late president.
Padgett and his friend then left town and returned on last Thursday but were not arrested, although on leaving the city they were followed
twelve miles into the country. It is understood that the mayor listens attentively to a certain banker
in Leitchneld and it was at tae "request" of this banker that the mayor took such action. This latter has not been verified, but it is generally known that the banker has "changed religions" and for this reason he did desire that the meetings be held.

the Central Labor Union, which is now torn in strife and from which
local unions of Indianapolis are dropping like dead leaves in a windstorm. With the cry to "Keep religious
'and race prejudice out of the labor
movement," this faction, which commends alleged Chief of Police Rikhoff in his drive against the. Masons and Protestants of this city, deliberately hurled into the midst of the Central Labor Union a bomb of prejudice, antagonism and arrogance. Taking the stand that because labor unions are made up of Protes
tants, Catholics, Jews and negroes, there should be no organizations to which only white, gentile, Protestant Americans should belong, this faction has deliberately set into disrupt the Central Labor Union. It
had started a policy of rule or ruin; it is more than succeeding, for at the present time it is doing both so far as the Central Labor Union is con
cerned. President Kern Powerless
Charles Kern, the retiring president, who tried in every conceivable legal way to hold back the action that he knew would engulf the central organization" and threaten its total disruption, will retire from office on August 27, the day on which the anti-Protestant faction will assume
complete control. He was powerless
before the boisterous clamor that arose in a meeting packed by the element that was then turning on its
brother union men because they worshlpped, God in Protestant churches and because they had dared to join an organization founded upon and sworn to uphold the Constitution of
the United States. Demand Bight to Dictate
The tens of thousands cf Protestant members of unions throughout our country are treated to the spectacle of seeing therf organization ripped asunder in Indianapolis be
cause of the arrogance and prejudice of fanatical men who demand the unAmerican right to dictate to what orders or organization the Protestant members of the union may be
long. Holding "rump conventions" at a downtown hotel, this faction, which had itself refused to support a negro member of the union in his race for
public office, made this same negro
chairman of these outlaw" meet'
ings while a Catholic served as secre
tary. At these meetings -a "slate" was formed and duly named the "A.
F. L. Ticket."
Behind the scenes were dynamiter
McNamara, er-convict, and Joe
Roach, assassin, the latter drafting resolutions and the former cavorting like a fanatic upon the floor of the Central Labor Union and demanding that the organization Uphold and commend Czar - Rikhoff and his "jools" in their nefarious business of war on Masons and Protestants under the guise of "getting the Klan." The Blighting Hand Once again the blighting hand of the un-American Unity League, hid
den behied the "anti-Klan" faction in the Central Labor Union, has
touched another Indianapolis organization and that organization is now facing destruction. The un-American Unity League may well feel proud a dynamiter and an assassin have won, for the time being at least, a crowning victory.
posed to the Klan readily toc ur the boycott, is plain on the face of the matter. The action taken is the same as other action taken at the dictation of Mad Pat O'Donneil, jury fixer, and-joe;Roaeh, assassin. Behind the scenes is that organization formed by these two to destroy all things Protestant in Indiana, and who announced as their purpose the' "busting of the Klan." The night riders have made their appearance in Tipton county, but as is the case with all night riders, they wore not the white robe of purity worn by the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan. These riders rode in the interests, not of freedom, as did Paul Revere, but in the interests of an alien foe which is working night and
day for the destruction of those liberties which Paul Revere so valiantly rode to help establish. Word of Impending Boycott The member of the board of directors who, in the middle of the night aroused . the countryside with the
word of impending boycott, is a member -also of the Knights of Columbus. Other Knights of Columbus declared that the selling of The Fiery Cross was a direct insult to Catholics and for that reason the Catholics would "withdraw." The fair is backed by the merchants of Tipton and this year is given as a free affair and is the first to have been held in Tipton in a number of years. Johnnie Sheeley's
big shows will be the main feature of the grounds during the week. Sheeley's shows are clean and wholesome and added to the shows are other attractions such as a large Ferris wheel, the "caterpillar" ride, the aerial swing and many other features.
Thursday to Be Klan Day Thursday night will be Klan night
and a mammoth crowd is expected
to be at the fair grounds to witness
a huge parade of Klansmen in full regalia. Band music and flying banners, fireworks and fiery crosses will lend enchantment to the cere
monies. At a meeting of the Klan, which was held immediately after the bitter attack by the aliens, It was decided that there would be no animosity shown in the matter on its part and that if the Catholic following wished to carry out the usual boycott system that Is used so often throughout the country in order to force a point, they were welcome to1 do so. The three Catholic members of the board resigned.

VERSAILLES, Ind., Aug. 13. At the last meeting of the CountyBoard of Education' It was announced here on last Saturday, that that body had ordered the reading of the Bible in the public schools of this county.' The order also states that the American flag must be prominently displayed at each and every school house throughout tne county.
This aotion by the board 'was fol

Since the advent of that organization in this county a much mors patriotic feeling is manifest and a greater interest in the teaching vf the Bible is also manifest.' .
