Church Dedication at Ingalls, Indiana
INGALLS, Ind., Aug. 7. When the new Christian church here was dedicated last Sunday it was found to be free from debt and to have 500 in the treasury. The Knights of the Ku Klux Klanwere a great help in
raising the funds and, although but $2,000 was needed, therewas enough
raised to leave a surplus.
Encouraged by the dedication of a
new church free from debt, the con
gregation, which has not had a pastor since the old church wa3 destroyed two years ago, is making arrangements to have a minister here in the near future who will be with them permanently.
Blackwell, Okla., Sees Big Class Initiated BLACKWELL, Okla., Aug. 7. Five thousand people witnessed the Ku Klux Klan demonstration at a point just north of Tonkawa last night when a class of 150 was initiated beneath the flaming crosses. Klansmen and visitors came from all parts of Kay and adjoining counties. A feature of the demonstration was a
mammoth parade, in which Klansmen in full regalia passed in silent
review before the crowds. The initiations were conducted beneath five flaming crosses with a huge spotlight commanding every approach.

that are supposed to be closed and of which the owners are out on bond. It Is alleged. Talk of a fight over "protection money" is now beginning to fill the air. That Mayor Hosey long knew of these conditions as they exist in Fort
Wayne today, he negatively admitted when the federal officers first came, by saying that he was expecting It.
He is, however, carrying out hi3 policy of excusing the police on the
grounds that "It is not the duty of
the local police to prohibit the sale of liquor." Black Spot on the Map This open defiance of the people of Fort Wayne who want to see the law
enforced, has brought about a rumor of impeachment proceedings that has grown to such an extent that it is shaping into a demand, and though the mayor is still assuming his sphinx-like attitude on the outside, little stories of hurried orders and secret conferences with the
heads of the police force persist in leaking out, and pressure will be brought to bear upon the council in
due time, it is rumored, to see that proper steps are taken to rid the city of one who would make it a
kWack spot on the map.
That an attempt will be made to keep the bootlegging administration in power is shown in the fact that "Mad" Pat O'Donnell is on the job with his futile efforts to "break up the Klan." Many letters have been received by Fort Wayne citizens, telling them that their names appear,
on the local Klan roster and asking1 them to have it taken off. These letters are on "Tolerance" letterheads and are signed by O'Donnell as head of the un-American Unity League. It is evident that members of the
Unity League who have been prowling around the city recently have blundered as usual when it came to
getting names of real Klansmen, as no letter known of has been received
by a member of the organization. One letter, it was pointed out, went
to a fourth degree Knight of Columbus. The city directory does not
signify those in its pages who are
Klansmen.
Following this nrst attacK ot a
foreigner in Chicago on the people of Fort Wayne, came still more indignities from the local police in trying to intimidate newsboys who are selling the Fiery Cross, the only paper that has the courage to tell the truth about existing conditions. A city patrolman walked up to j. newsboy at Main and Calhoun streets, jerked a copy of the Fiery Cross from his hands and tore it up before him. He also told the. carrier, it is alleged, that he had the names of seven po
licemen who belong to the Klan and had" turned them over to Lieut. Pap-pert.
Just what Lieut. Pappert has done in the case has not been learned, but the fact is significant that the patrolman knew who to turn the names over to. Policewoman "Knew Too Much" Policewoman Mildred Dunlap, who "knows too much," is still at Triers Amusement park where she has been
placed by the board of safety, headed by Al Keller. Miss Dunlap was instrumental in the arrests of certain questionable resorts, and her activities did not meet with the approval of Capt. Zwick. It is said that
Triers park does not need a policewoman owing to the fact that it is a small place and well policed as it is. The captain, however, doea not
seem to consider himself safe, it is alleged, as long as there is anyone on the force who is trying to uphold
the law. The police have not made one single raid on a soft drink parlor for over a month although about eighty per cent of the saloon keepers who are out on bond are running wide open. The reason for this, it is pointed out, is due to the fact that the department as a whole can see Its doom and the spirit to "make hay while the sun shines" prevails.
Little by little the net tightens on
the higher ups, who have nothing to
say but lots to think about. Jftayor Hosey, who. said he expected a cleanup, has not stated whether he expected impeachment proceedings or not. In fact, he has not said much of anything recently.
Local Papers Silent The Fort Wayne newspapers are
still silent about the part played by the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan in helping to make Fort Wayne a better place in which to live and the Journal-Gazette is getting weaker and weaker in its attempted defense of the mayor and hia police department. The old cry of the Journal about conditions being no worse than in Gary, is getting threadbare, and as that is all the excuse, feeble
as it was, that they could give, their whole defense has fizzled out. The News-Sentinel does not mention the
Klan for two reasons. One is, that
they can find nothing to knock about. The other reason is that every knock
I S a boost, and the News-Sentinel is not boosting the Klan. '
The persecution in attempting to frame" attorneys who have been ac
tive in the prosecution of bootleg
gers got a sudden jolt when R. A.
Buhler, attorney, brought conclusive evidence of fake in the case recently brought against him where it was charged that he accepted a $25
bribe. The press now concedes the fact and says that whatever Buhler may be guilty of, he is neither crooked nor a defender of "wop" bootleggers. Vice Elements Combine
The combined elements ot vice have banded together to defeat the
purposes of the Ku Klux Klan and
the federal officers In cleansing Fort Wayne, but evidence now on hand
without taking into account all ad-'
ditional evidence that will be gathered, will ultimately purge the. city of its sickening vice conditions and-, rotten politicians.

(By Staff Correspondent) EAST LIVERPOOL, O., Ang. 7. Foes of the Klan availed themselves of their first opportunity to attempt to break up an outdoor meeting of the Columbiana county Klan near here last Monday night when several
shots were fired" and two aliens were captured as they were trying to gain entrance to the Klavern on the field
in which the ceremonies were being held. Threats have been received at Klan headquarters here for some weeks as to what would happen if the organization attempted to stage an outdoor demonstration in the vicinity of Salem. The word had gone out that such a demonstration "must be broken up at any cost." Outdoor meetings have been held every night in the week in some
part of the county and there had never been any attempt made in any manner to' break up these meetings.
The attempt at Salem was the first and ended as all such attempts end, in a disastrous rout for the opposi
tion. I Couple Is Captured The trouble came during the lecture. Several shots were fired into the meeting and immediately the guards closed in. Several men escaped, but a man and a woman were captured. Then they were treated to the sight of their lives. They were closely guarded lest another attempt at shooting might be made and brought within the enclosed circle of robed men. With tears streaming down their
faces, the two were brought to the platform where everyone present could get a good look and remember
the faces. They were immediately identified as residents of Salem and after questioning the man admitted
his membership in an anti-Klan or
ganization. Fear was expressed in
every motion made by the couple. It was a sight that was pitiful and yet laughable. It is safe to say that never again will that same couple
ever attempt to gain admittance to a
Klan meeting. "This move by the opposition has resulted in Klan headquarters being swamped with men and women seeking admission. The threats have served only to help the cause of 100 per cent Protestantism. The meeting at Salemrwas one of the largest ever held in this county. One hundred and twenty-five machines came from Alliance and Sebring, headed by the famous Reed's
Boys Band of Alliance. More than

Boss County Celebration . Ross county's first annual klonklave held at Frankfort Friday night drew thousands from neighboring counties and cities. A picnic wal held through the day while speaking and band music filled the program. The entire community turned- out to greet the visiting Knights and Ladies of the Ku Klux Klan. A class of many hundred candidates were
taken into the Klan in the evening, while at the same time the women initiated a large number of new members. The verdict of visitors upon conclusion of the ceremonies, was that Frankfort was a 100 per cent community. Klansmen from Chillieothe materially" aided in the celebration. This is to be an annual affair.

him marched two representatives of
the Scouts.
The Klansmen formed a circle around the pole. The presentation
was made by an address from the
leader. Scoutmaster P. H. Grove re
sponded in accepting the emblem.
The flag was raised. The crowd
joined in singing "America." After this the Klansmen retired, and the flag was pulled down and taken -to
scout headquarters.

VETERANS USE KLAN FLAG
COLUMBUS, O., Aug. 4. When
fifty wounded and disabled World
War veterans from the vocational
training school at Camp Sherman,
Chillieothe, arrived in town today, they wished to parade to the James
theater where they witnessed the performance. Two mounted porice
officers had been assigned to escort
them. There was no flag, however.
One of the officers went to Klan
hea'dquarters and obtained the use of the large silk flag belonging to Buckeye Klan No. 8. The parade
was held. Following the theater
party the men took a special car to Olentangy park where an outing wa3 planned for them. They re
turned to Chillieothe Saturday night.

This strong, light-weight steel ease ia made especially for your robes. It has been endorsed by the "Old Man" as a good standard case for the organization to use. Each Klansman's number is stenciled' on the end of the case so that they can be filed on shelves at headquarters by robe custodian. This not only keeps the robes clean and covered, but makes for greater convenience when going out on a demonstration. FIELDMEN Write For Our Proposition Address National Distributing Co. may resign after his first year in office, if re-elected, to take up the

county, it was learned here today.
Considerable comment has fol
lowed.
Early In the year Mayor Post was
called to task by Governor Donahey,
and warned to make the laws on
the books felt in his community.
For a month or two conditions were improved, but have since slipped
back to their old channels. Conse
quently, 'when his designs on" the

cussion followed.
It ia being openly predicted here that the strength of the Ku Klux

Selection. As a result of such talk
the opposition . is tightening its
forces for a finish fight.

along the line of march, the more attractive of these being the "Ship of State" and the "Goddess of Liberty," while the most unique feature was -a formation of marching women in the shape of a cross, carrying red flashlights pointing heavenward, , thus forming a red fiery cross. After three hundred women marchers, who were dressed in full regalia, came a drum corps of men, and bringing up in the rear were Klans
men mounted and on foot, who acted
as guards during the evening. Four Hundred Initiated
When the paraders had ended their march at Foster park a class
of about 400 candidates was then initiated into the mysteries of the
order beneath the rays of an electric
fiery cross, while other crosses
burned at a distance.
The ritualistic work was given by
four women in regalia with visors up, surrounded by a circle of white figures, and as the vows were being
taken, a woman on horseback lighted a fiery cross, the light revealing a
second woman representing the God
dess of Liberty and draped in stars
and stripes.
Following the naturalization cere
monies the lines of guards were broken and the public was allowed
to come forward where two well
known speakers addressed the
throngs that gathered, on subjects of Americanism and the principles of
the Klan.
The latter speaker complimented the Women's Organization on its
rapid and staunch growth and dwelt at length on the Cavalier Motion Picture Company which has recently
been organized to release pictures or a real American nature to counter act some of the anti-Klan pictures
that are now being made ana ex
hibited bv the opposition.
The evening was full of spectacular features and there were no acci
dents or misfortunes In any way to mar the wonderful day. Regret was PTm-essad. however. In the fact that
about 1,000 women were unable to take part in the parade on account
of lack of proper regaiia.
