COLUMBUS, Ohio, July 2. The greatest gathering of members of the Ku Klux Klan that has ever heen held within the borders of the Buckeye state will assemble for the Ohio Park Thursday, July 12. The Ladies

of the Ku Klux Klan will have a part

in the celebration.

Plans laid by the Ohio state headquarters of the Klan will make this

assemblage one of the greatest yet held in the nation. It will be the first time that every Klansman in Ohio and those from neighboring states are asked to attend a etate i. ::'vo 't h'js formerly been the custom for delegates from each Klan to attend the state meetings. The Buckeye Lake session will, therefore, set a precedent, which will undoubtedly be followed In the future. The Klans of Newark, which Is the nearest city to the park, Columbus, Zanesville, Lancaster and Springfield will act In the capacity of hosts to the etate and national (iplp rations. To each of these special duties have been assigned. Buckeye Lake Park is situated two miles from the National highway at

a point twenty-eight miles east of

Columbus. It Is accessible from all points in the state by electric traction cars and can be reached on steam roads through either Hebron or

Newark. To Furnish Traffic Guards Autoists will have no trouble In finding it, for the Newark Klan will furnish three companies of guards fr. rvnff'ir. (iutv on nil mnin roads and to direct the parking of autos in several fields near the park which will be reserved for this purpose. ':"" i-'-nk'fvo will open at 12 noon, and there will be no break in the gathering until It disbands after the fireworks display in the evening. An enormous circus tent is to be erected on a farm adjacent to the park for the afternoon session. This will

serve to keep the sun off and also as a protection in case of rain. No

regalia will be worn at the afternoon meeting. . Matters of vital interest

to all Klansmen will be discussed bv

! state and national speakers at this

session. At the same time as the meeting near the park Is being held the n's Or-'.nizption will open its meeting at Summerland beach, directly across Buckeye Lake. The Lancaster Klansmen will act as a guard for the women's meeting in the afternoon. .The greai public . naturaiiaatjon In the evening, at which it is expected 3,000 candidates from all parts of the state will be taken Into the Invisible Empire, will be the feature of the day. The women will

come across the lake to witness this ceremony. The Columbus Klan will act as an

outer guard for the evening klavern and the Springfield chapter will furnish the inner guard and a guard for the candidates. Imperial Wizard to Be Present

"Who can find a virtuous -woman? For her price la far above rabies., She considereth a field and buyeth it; by the work of her hands she planteth a vineyard; her children shall rise up and call her blessed, and she causeth her husband to sit

among the rulers of the city." The wise and learned Hebrew king who wrote the above words ended a checkered life thousands of years ago. He wrote pTofusely but well in proverb, prose and poetry. His conclusions on many lines are still es

teemed as the acme of worldly wis

dom, but In all his wonderful work he has written nothing truer or more

beautiful than his tribute to woman' hood, of which the above is an ex tract.

Woman had but few Inherent

rights in his day. It is a great

honor to his race that the great lawgiver, Moses, under Divine lnspira-

tion, included in the Hebrew law the first definite regulations as to the personal and property rights which

she could claim as inherent and In

alienable. It la further to be said that under the Influence of Christian training, these few rights , have

grown and privileges have extended

It Is, of course, deplorable that In

Christian Europe, even in England,

that women are at a grave disadvan

tags before the law, but In our own country she has attained a standing

in law equity and custom which approximates to the value of the serv

ice which she renders as a citizen,

All these rights, privileges and

immunities have been due and pay

able for countless ages. Since the dawn of time women have given

their lives to bear and rear children

for the state and in addition even

yet the great majority of them are

committed to monotonous and grind

ing toil and sacrifice which, If It

were not divine in its unselfishness

could only be classed as sordid. If

any reader entertains the impres

slon that the ordinary care of the

average home and its unvarying in

cidental duties does not come under the above description, he is In grave

error and should make a little ex

perimental investigation.

Yet even in the midst of all the pressing duties of maternal care and home-making, women have found

time to keep the spiritual fire of the nation burning on the altar. She has been the conscience-keeper of the

race. Every moral law, every law

regarding sanitation, prison reform

child labor and control of liquor has

been passed because the mothers- of the land worked and prayed until

it was written on the statute books

They have at times lost In skir

mishes, but never have been beaten

in battle. In the preceding century the great secret organizations awoke to the

fact that their women were not morons and could be depended on

to keep their own secrets and help

their husbands keep theirs. It was

discovered that men materially aided

their own Bocietiee by the co-opera

tion thus afforded. Examples such

as the Eastern Star, Daughters of Rebekah and Pythian Sisters prove

the truth above cited.

Speaking of organizations, no

other in the history of this favored

nation has ever had the marvelous growth of the Ku Klux Klan. It has grown In response to vital demands for militant and active reaction to the crying evils of the times.

caused by the reaction to the unhealthy conditions arising from the

upheaval caused by the great war. Lawlessness Is rampant; the religion In which our mothers lived and for which our fathers died, is derided aa a myth. The deity of Christ Is denied in presumably Christian pulpits. Bolshevism would gladly show its slimy head. The Klan should be proud of the enemies it has made, ranging from parlor

bolshevlsts, some of whom publish

church papers, up to common boot

leggers. Cowardly politicians are

sadly bewildered and the good citizens, both in and out of the organization, are very much amused at the gyrations of executives who will neither run with the hare and are

afraid to hunt with the hounds.

No class in the community has as

much at stake where good govern

ment la involved as the mothers of

our land, irrespective of the station in life to which it has pleased God

to call them. They have a right to say that law shall be enforced in order that the children they have

brought forth in agony and for whom they have toiled and prayed shall have a decent and fair Chance in life's bittef battle. They have no

sympathy for the Jurist who takes bribes and perverts justice. They want the sworn officers of the law to fulfill their sworn duty. They want thlf Bible read in the public schools. They believe in textbooks which do not apologize for the glorious deeds of our ancestors, and the only propaganda they favor is that which furthers the views held by those now lying in their bloody graves, who

died that we might have a country,

and that a free country.

Imperial Wizard Evans will address the assembled Klansmen following the Initiation, as will many national officers who are to accompany him from Atlanta, and state officers. An electric fiery cross and a large

wooden cross will be featured in the evening klavern. These will be furnished by the Zanesville men, who

will also act as a guard for the after

noon session.

It is estimated that at least 100,000

Klansmen will be assembled, and

preparations are under way to care

for them. The fireworks display in the even

ing will be staged in the middle of the lake. Large barges to carry the

explosives and all set pieces are being furnished by the park manage

ment, which has already given splen

did co-operation, according to state headquarters. Klan fireworks worth

$2,000 have been purchased.

The facilities of the park are open

to the visitors. A warning that visi

tors bring their own meals was

sounded, as the limited facilities for feeding may not be sufficient to

handle the crowds.

The park officials have turned over

a cottage to be used exclusively as field headquarters. Already from

this office directions are being given to gangs of workmen, also furnished

j by the park, in the matter of erect

ing lights, tents and temporary build

ings for the use of Klansmen.

A similar spirit of American cooperation has been shown by the Ohio Electric Traction Company in furnishing special cars from all points

in the state to Buckeye Lake Pajk The Columbus, Newark and Zahes

vllle Railway, which is a branch of the Ohio Electric Line, goes direct to the park entrance. Visitors com

ing by traction can transfer to it at any of the cities included In Its title. Invitations have been extended to

Klans in all neighboring states,

dmna, Kentucky, west Virginia ana Pennsylvania, to attend. Many of

these have already signified their in

tention to be on hand and take part.
