fftrprs Froin Rheumatism May ExpecT Healilr Again Health Talk No. 11 By J. D. Ooldsberry, D. C. The question Is asked, why are we so confident that chiropractic will get results in rheumatism cases where the experience is that nothing has been of any real benefit? The victim of rheumatism suffers such agony that he is not to be blamed for trying anything and everything that 13 offered. The reason chiropractors are bo confident of results in rheumatism cases is because chiroprac-
ctic is utterly different. No matter what
else you have done, or what variety of
methods may have been offered, there was not one of them that would do the work of chiropractic spinal adjustments. For chiropractic there is no substitute. Rheumatism la duo to failure of the orpans of elimination. When the normal wastes of the kidneys and bowels are not properly expelled from tho body the foundation for rheumatism Is laid. Chiropractic spinal adjustments free the spinal nerves to supply 100 per cent life Imnulsea to the organs of elimination. Rheumatism dlsap-

doing in no way reflects upon the
natural rights of people, and the position taken by the law as above ex
pressed by the highest court of our land Is exactly the position taken by the Klan. Klan Condemns No Man The Klan condemns no man, or set of men, so long as he or they are obedient to law and uphold the
.principles of the Christian religion
and the principles of law upon which this government is founded, but they do claim the right to select for membership in their organization
those best fitted by nature and by education to carry out and practise the principles for which the organization stands, just as our Supreme Court claims the right for the United States to select for citizenship those best qualified by nature and education to carry out the principles for which this particular government stands. This is not intended in either case as a reflection upon the person or persons who are refused membership in the Klan or citizenship in the government. Likewise,
the decision that white people shall not be compelled to ride or live or intermarry with colored people is no reflection upon either the white or the colored, but is an attempt to maintain the purity or the thing as established, whether that thing be a
person, an organization known as a Klan, or an organization known as a government. As the Supreme Court of our own state, in upholding a statute forbidding an Intermarriage of a white person and a negro, said: "To forbid this marriage is not to say that one . race is superior and another inferior, but Is to say they
are different- God made them that
way."
All thoughtful observers know
that these distinctions run all through creation, In the animal, vegetable, and human families. It 13 no reflection upon one animal that another will not associate or amalgamate with another very similar animal; it is a law, and the law
always has and always will maintain with the utmost Btrictness proper distinctions and classifications. War Contrary to Law I challenge anyone to point to a
single principle for which the Klan4
stands that is contrary to law. They are not against Catholics, Jews, or negroes. They stand for certain
principles and they think that those principles can be best exemplified and carried out by people possessing certain qualifications and beliefs. For example, they say a man born and reared on American soil, under the American flag, is more likely to be true to American principles than
a foreign citizen. This is no reflec
tion on a foreigner ror he may be
very patriotic, but tor obvious reasons he might think more of his mother country under certain conditions. This fact was plainly illustrated in the world war when the German ambassador told Ambassador Gerard that Germany had a million soldiers in America, and every well Informed person knows that this statement was almost, if not
quite, true. A Klansman has no monopoly on patriotism, any more
than has any person a monopoly on any other good thing, but the Klan, as stated, is selecting men with certain qualifications and this is done
every day by numerous organiza
tions without objection or comment-
The principles for which the Klan
stands may be known by any honest seeker.
The Klan is a Protestant organization because it believes that adherents of the Roman Catholic Church owe an allegiance to a power foreign to the United States; also that the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church are not intended to and do not poromote the things for which this government stands. This belief
is not limited to Klansmen; it is shared by millions of people; in fact, history proves that this belief is well founded. I submit for your consideration the following statement made in May 1922, by a prominent minister in New York City while delivering an
address entitled, "The Irish Roman Catholic Church in America." "Nearly every European country
has been compelled In Its time to take protective measures against the Roman Catholic Church, Its Intrigues, its disruptive tendencies, and persistent efforts to clog the machinery of the state. A political church is a thorn in the flesh of so
ciety, a disturbing foreign element
weakening the state.'s authority. Ours is, beyond all others, the land
of toleration. But the right of de
fending Itself against open or coV'
ert enemies can not be denied to any government or people. And if
the Roman church, wnether through the Pope, the Vatican, the hierarchy,
the priests, or the laymen contin
ues to encroach upon the state or
to weaken the loyalty of any large body of its citizens, America may be forced, in face of continued acts
of aggression, to reconsider its attitude towards the tapal organiza
tion as a whole.

America to Awake Nowl
Enough has been said to show
you our danger. The Roman Catho
lie church never sleeps. It is time
for Americans to awake before the
encroachment has gone bo far that
our recovery can only be by a re
sort to armed conflict. Don't think
I am an alarmist. I am simply see
ing tho future in ttie light of the lurid past and the menacing present." Whether the minister Is correct in his statement is a matter for individual determination, after the Individual has read enough history and observed enough facts to come to a proper conclusion. This much is clear in the light of history, absolute separation of church and state is essential to free government, and a study of Roman Catholic doctrines, in addition to a study of history of the activities of that church In Eu
ropean countries, leads to the inevitable conclusion that they do not believe in the separation of church
and state. Many a man, whether white, black, native or foreign-born, may be practising to the very best of his ability principles of the Christian religion and yet he could not be admitted to every, or in fact, to many, religious organizations. The Japanese, who can not become a naturalized Amer
ican citizen, might still live here and be a good and a useful man. The
whole thing is individual. No one Is compelled to join the Klan, because this is free America, and on the other hand, and by the same token, people possessed of the qualifications and desiring to do so can not be prevented from so doing by any power. Many people have formed incorrect opinions as to what the Klan
stands for and is, by reading errone
ous and false statements written by their enemies. The principles for which they stand are good and they say nothing against any person or set of persons unless it be by the construction which you place upon what they say. For example, it is limited to white people, and it. you challenge the right of white people to join a- society for legal and proper purposes, then by construction you might say that this is a reflection on the colored man, or If you insist
upon saying that it is a reflection on every foreign-born man that he can not join an organization composed
of native-born persons, then by construction you make it bad for the
foreigner. But distinctions of this kind are so numerous as to make it
a matter or surprise mat people would challenge or criticize this right. Stop and think how many of the numerous secret societies or churches you can think of are you eligible to join? Certainly not all of them or even many of them, and yet this is no reflection upon you,
neither is it a reflection or grounds for criticism of the organizations to which you are ineligible. Ignorant Criticism. What do you know first-hand about
the Klan? I have read and heard much criticism and almost If not quite all of it came from those who possess neither opportunity nor de
sire to really know what the Klan was and is. Criticism to be constructive, should be based on facts and as one who is interested in the success of the Christian religion and the United States government It seems clear to me that practice of

the principles taught by the Klan will promote, if not guarantee, the
success of both. Lawlessness The Klan teaches law and order and an "unqualified" allegiance to the United States government. If
an individual Klansman or even several of them violate the law then he or they occupy the same position and will receive the same treatment as would so many Masons, K. of C.'s or members of any other secret society or other kind of lawful organization. Did you ever belong to a church or a secret society where any of the members were guilty of
mistakes or wrong-doing? And If
so, did you condemn the entire mem
bership or the principles for which the organization stood and which the
Individual had failed, refused, or forgotten to follow? If you have not,
your experience differs from that of
most people.
No better rule for measuring the conduct of men has ever been found than the so-called Golden Rule. There are certain deadly enemies of the Klan because success of the Klan spells failure for them, but if you believe in the principles of the
Christian religion, unqualified loyal
ty to the United States government; if you love Old Glory and the prin
ciples for which the cross stands,
white supremacy, the Protestant re
llgion, which got its name by protest
ing against tne terrible and conscienceless power of the Roman Catholic church; if you believe In knowing something first-hand about
a thing before you condemn It: if
you desire the continuance of this
happy and prosperous republic; if
you value freedom of speech and of the press; if you wish to see the things which Jesus the Christ taught
and practiced carried forward, I urge you to at least find out the real truth about the Klan before you condemn It.
