CLASS OF 2,100 MEN INITIATED AT DAYTON DAYTON, O., June 25. Thousands of Klansmen gathered near Dayton last week at a ceremonial held at which about 2,100 candidates were Initiated into the organization. The ceremonial was one of the most in
spiring ever held in or near Dayton,
it was stated by those who witnessed It A total of about 15,000 Klansmen attended the demonstration.
After the initiation a wonderful
display of fireworks was given. Also a band concert was on the program. About 1,000 women of the Women's
Organization were among the spectators. The meeting was addressed by
a man said to be a high Klan official
It wa3 the fourth meeting of Its kind to be held by the local Klan
and the candidates outnumbered those who were initiated at any one
time in a ceremonial of this kind.
George W. Skinner Dead;
Klansmen Escort Hearse COLLEGE CORNERS, O., June 25-
The funeral of George W. Skinner,
58 yeara old, was held Sunday afternoon at the Presbyterian church, of
which he was a member, the services being conducted by Reverend Boyer, former pastor. The minister, being intimately acquainted with the deceased, highly praised his many good qualities as all know who had been privileged to know him well. By request of Mr. Skinner, the Ku
Klux Klan had a part in the burial service. Led by a klansman carrying the ) United States flag, fifty other robed men walked in front of the hearse from the church to the ceme
tery. Meanwhile the band of that or
ganization played a funeral dirge. Before leaving the residence a flag was placed over the casket, and was buried in that position. The flag and
a large cross of red flowers were the
emblems of the klan, in which Mr, Skinner took great interest.

How the' Force Works
During the meeting of the fclon-
cilium, in session recently, one of the members, who is known as a "Simmons man," was called from the meeting on a matter of private business and Immediately the press wires carried to the world, "Sim
mons man has bolted." This statement is entirely refuted and denied by the kloncilium itself, but the fact remains that, through the Northern and Western as well as the Eastern states was carried, under scare heads, that "Simmons man has bolted the kloncilium." On the other hand, let a man who is known as a close personal friend of Dr. Evans alight from a taxi, pay a cab fare and innocently drop the meter receipt in the gutter, and some "well-meaning" enemy of the organization rushes into print "that he Is in possession of evidence of gross
extravagance on the ipart of the pres
ent magement;" and so it is that clear water is made muddy and the entire matter is greatly exaggerated.

fully exonerated and its actions en
dorsed. These charges had been made against the imperial officers

of them went to jail and to prison although Mayor Johnson appealed his case and is now at liberty under appeal. Bight of Office Questioned There is a Question today whether or hot Mayor Johnson is qualified to
hold the office of mayor, due to the fact that he has been convicted in
federal court, which automatically disqualifies any man holding office. It is believed by many that the fact that he appealed his case does not give him the right to serve during
the appeal. It is understood that the attorney-
general of Indiana has started ouster
proceedings against the prosecutor

In the eyes of many here today, following the compliance with the order of the mayor by the Klan, that he now relinquish his office as mayor in view of the fact that he stands
convicted in federal court in "the Gary bootlegging cases." Due to the Klan's stand against law violators and bootleggers, and that the foreign-born In Gary reaches a large percentage, with a 75 per cent Catholic population, the opposition against the Klan is very great. Despite this fact, however, the Klan's growth here has been steady. Mayor Callahan's removtl from office of an alleged Klansman, and his threat to remove all other men whom he believes belong to the
Klan, is typical of the opposition to the American organization. The two mayors of the twin cities are "hand
in glove" with one another on fighting the Klan.

ROCHESTER, IniL, June 26. The two cases filed against Leo Hogan, charged with the breaking up of an alleged Klan meeting held In San Pierre garage two months ago and

Trial date has not yet been set and because of the full calendar in Judge Rubin R. Carr's court, it is
probable that the case will not com up for trial until the next term, of court, which begins October 22. '

At the Englewood meeting, Mrs. Klrby not only heckled, but engaged in irate altercation with the woman

Smith, who haa suddenly become
much agitated concerning the Liberty hall project, Is working hand
in hand with the program of hate and destruction to all things Protestant, as laid down by the un-Ameri
can Unity League.
During the address Saturday night
a beautiful fiery cross was burned on
the river bank and aerial bombs were fired into the sky. With the exception of Mrs. Klrby, there was no disturbance of any kind and the big crowd listened attentively to the speaker throughout and dispersed quietly at the close of his address.
Big Crowd at Grove to
Hear American Speech
GREEN HILL, Ind., June 25. The citizens of this place and of all Warren county were given opportunity last week to hear an excellent speech
on Americanism. The speech was delivered at a meeting held by the Women's Organization of Medina and was held In a grove near here. The movement here Is meeting with much favor, as was evidenced by the crowd in attendance. There were approximately 1,000 machines parked in the grove during the speaking.
