Arthur Kain, it is not stated that City Manager Cotton has written a letter to the Klan in which he says that he has no intention of removing Chief Kain. "Is Not a Candidate" Captain Bixler, who was slated for chief of police, and whom the better element feels is the thorn in the side of Chief Kain, is reported to have said within the past few days that he "is not a candidate" for the job of chief of police. The citizens are watchingvwith interest the proceedings started by the Klan and are giving it their loyal support. According to at least one of the bootleggers that infest Jeffersonville, "the Klan ain't got no authority," and for that reason he is going to continue selling white mule. As paradoxical a3 it may seem, that is no doubt why he refuses to sell near beer, because, as the story goes, "it ain't got no authority." However, it is not expected of a bootlegger that he be consistent. However, it would appear that the police authorities are consistent, inasmuch as they have never made a drive to rid this city of vice, and from this point it looks like they never will. However, it is stated that they are getting worried. Worried possibly because they fear a movement that is going to force action. .
