Walla Walla, Wash., March 19 In the 1924 election, one of the most important issues will be a referendum on the subject of a school law similar to Oregon's banning private and parochial schools to children of immature years. This proposed bill is being backed by the Klan, which in two years has grown to be the largest fraternal organization in the city The Masonic, Knights of Pvthias! and Odd Fellows organizations follow in the order given. Furlow has introduced a bill in the state senate prohibiting any one not an American citizen from teaching in any elementary school in the state. The measure has the support of the Klan and other patriotic organizations. - It would be a blow mainly at the parochial schools, and would bar out foreign nuns and priests as instructors. Dos Moines, la., March 19. Imperial Representative of the Ku Klux Man, A. E. Brown has announced that the local Klan will give a reward of $500 to any who can bring about the arrest and conviction of the bandits who shot Hary Huegle, a local druggist. Newark. N. J.. March 20. The Exalted Cyclops of the Newark Klan occupied the pulpit of Grace Methodist Episcopal Church here and made an address to the congregation He was in full regalia as were the forty clansmen who accompanied him to the church. Rev. Parris E. Greenly, pastor of the church welcomed the klansmcn and the reception from the church members showed the highest approval and respect for the Klan. Elizabeth, Pa., March 20. The local Klan of the Ku Klux Klan, said to have a membership of about 150 lias won much approval through its support of the churches. An investigation is being carried on, but the general impression nrevails, that the entire affair was a prank which was seized upon and used as anti-Klan propaganda. Klansmen, Attention! RESULTS BEING OBTAINED (By Special Investigator.) Peru, March 20. Charles Knott, bootlegger, convicted on a charge of maintaining a public nuisance at his place a few miles south of this city, has filed appeal bonds of $3,000, carrying his case to the supreme court. Knott was .fined ?250 and given a six months' sentence to the Indiana penal farm. The case is one of particular interest to the'Ku Klux Klan. Initiating a law and order campaign, the local organization set forth to seek out and demand a stricter law enforcement by county and city officials. Knott's roadhousfi was among the first to fall into the net. The defendant finds recourse to the state's highest tribunal to stay his fine and imprisonment. Other prosecutions and convictions are sure to follow. Peru looks to the Ku Klux Man for relief, and by information obtained through this channel, boOze peddlers and other law violators are seeing the handwriting upon the wall. With the heavy sentence imposed by Judge Ward as a precedent, with the promise that similar doses will be yneted out in like cases of law breaking,' Peru recognizes the dawn of another day. Miami county, known as one of the worst hell-holes m the state, will avail itself of the opportunity to clean up.
