T takes the highest type of citizenship and real manhood to withstand criticism and false accusation without wilting before the onslaught of an ungenerous foe.

The brilliant achievement of the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan in Wayne County is eloquent evidence of the fundamental truth that right shall prevail. - ' In the face of the most

vitriolic fire ever heaped on the heads of noble men, Wayne County Klan has built one of the strongest organizations in the state and today stands as a bulwark of righteousness, constantly operating in a determined and dignified way to aid established authorities of law and order to bring criminals before the bar of stern justice. During the period of building in Wayne County, " Vt- tt gpan i ztfrt i o n -has btn unalterably opposed and bitterly fought by Henry U. Johnson, Ed Harris and the Richmond Palladium. In this fight neither Johnson, Harris nor the Palladium have manifested any regard for the truth but have hurled" their accusations broadcast, and have denied every opportun

ity for reply by the Klan through a local medium of circulation. The challenge goes out to every Klansman and patriotic citizen of Wayne County who loves his state and his country, to rise upward and go onward fighting the battle of justice and establishing peace among men; in a consecrated respect for the law of the land. To such a task Wayne County Klan dedicates itself anew and pledges the best people in the city, county and in the great commonwealth of Indiana that there shall not be a continuation of the lawlessness which has prevailed here in days gone by, but that a higher ideal of citizenship shall be manifested in the heart, conscience and soul of the community. The Klan holds no malice against either Ed Harris or Henry U. Johnson for their conduct, nor does the Klan expect in any

Johnson, the Richmond Palladium or any other man or group of men, to prove a single statement that the Klan has ever practiced religious intolerance, racial strife or has been party to a single act or deed unpatriotic, disloyal or in conflict with the fundamental ideals of American government.
