SECOND SERMON ON KU KLUX KUN "THE. FIERY CROSS" IS SUBJECT OF REV. FRANK L. BROWN'S DISCOURSE. Zanesville, O. A crowd of more than 2,000 greeted Rev.' Frank Lawrence Brown of the Methodist Protestant church, W. Main. St., last night when he preached his second sermon on the Ku Klux Klan. Long before the tJLme for the sermon to begin the church, was packed to overflowing and many were turned away. The aisles, the choir loft, the vestibule, and even the pulpit, wore packed with people. Rev. Brown relinquished his seat in the pulpit to an old lady, while he sat on the arm or another chair when not standing conducting the service. Rev. Brown last night preached upon "The Fiery Cross." He stated that, like all good things, itihad many counterfeits, but that it symbolized righteousness, power, holiness and sacrifice. He stated: "The cross is symbolical oE the jsacrifice and goodness of pur Savior, Jasus Christ. It is an inspiring symbol for any organization to adopt, and any which upholds it, as does the Ku Klux Klan, musti necessarily be Imbued with high ideals." Rev. Brown further stated: "There are a great many members of the Klan, I am told, ,vho have already made great sacrifices that this-organization may live and perpetuate itself. These men have acted in the spirit of Jesus Christ exemplified by His last act, (that o giving His life that We .might, live." He then asked who among the congregation knew t.hs motto of the Ku Klux Klan, ami, none, answering, he told the congregation that it was ' Not for myself, hut for others." The sermon was preached under rather impressive conditions. The church was well lighted at the beginning of the service, but when Rev. Brown started to nreaeh the lights were turned out and the oniy illumination in the large auditorium was that from an electrically lighted fiery cross placed high over the pipe organ. The cross was about three by four feet. On next Sunday night Rev.' Brown will preach on "The Invisible Emperor." Zanesville Times-Recorder. KLAN. AT FUNERAL AT NEWAtK Newark, O. The Ku Klux Klan appeared in publid for the first time in this section yesterday afternoon when in full regalia and cross formation it suddenly appeared from over the hill at the cemetery and took their places at the grave of Herman Mercer. In addition to the Masonic ceremonies, which were performed, the K. K. K.'s went through their burial ritual and then marched away as silently as they j had come.

VMRHIN6 tfi THE REAL PATRIOTS OF AMERICA It is regrettable that it is necessary for the Rail Splitter to again refer to the work of Billy Parker and the New Menace. A very few years ago Parker conceived the idea of fdtming his own organization, one he could control and utilize to his own financial advantage. His idea of making a success of his own order was to break up every other order and stampede the members of these disrupted orders into his own machine. He sent out men who would stoop to do his work and in a large measure he was instrumental in breaking up the "P'a" and j the Guardians of Liberty. He simply i succeeded in wrecking two eood or ganizations in the interest of his own machine, the I. O. B., which never functioned and which ia dead today. At that time the national officers of the "P's," the G. of L. and the Orangemen appealed to this publication to champion their cause and we became the spokesman for these men who were as great a body of men as ever banded themselves together to serve the Protestant cause. Parker's record was broadcasted throughout the nation and it baffles me to understand why any organization would allqw him to become a member after that exposure. He is using exactly the same tactics now relative to the Klan that he used previously in his former efforts to build a Parker machine on the ruins of the other, orders. He is making a vicious and unjust attack on the national officers of the order. Men who, through their ability and tireless labors have built up the greatest, most efficient, and the most effective Protestant fraternity in the history of all the world. These men have been tried as if by-fire. There is no possibility on earth that these men are now or ever will surrender to Romanism or any other disloyal forces. Parker is taking the word of "The Brass Check" newspapers and using theii testimony against the order and its leaders. , In doing this he has aliens himself with the traitor Kimbro. Allen of Kansas, Parker of Louisiana Hylan of New York, and should be considered a traitor to his obligations and to the organization. Parker crawled into this movement from the Socialist -soap box because he found he could make more money preaching patriotism than taking up collections from a crowd of down-and-outers on the street corner; He swanped ade with Gale's Communist magazine in Mexico and wrote? Gale to the effect that a copy of hi publication was tc him as refreshing as a shower bath on a July day. The files of both papers will prove that I am right. A letter has just reached this office asking we if I believe that Parker is a Jesuit in the service of the enemy I do not know. I can not understand the man. He says that everv natrinfir order has been broken up through i strife created by men within the ranks He is foreign born, has a brogue which he brought over and which he has never disposed of, is as slippery as an eel and has done the Protestant cause in America more harm than any man who has been trusted and honored with membership in the vari ous organizations. This paper is not in any sense of the word an official organ for the Ku Klux Klan. But we do have the cause of this great fraternity at heart. We have abiding faith in the leaders who have made it the greatest force for Christian citizenship and right principles that exists in America today. In 30 years of hard work I have never gone oflL half cocked on any question that concerns the good of Protestantism in America and I am now appealing to you with all the power of my being tc stand firm for your leaders, save this great order, and in so doing preserve civil and religious liberty in America and we will give to our children the kind of a government conceived in the minds of our forefathers. Stand by the order, the flag, the school house and tell Parker the dissension ist to go back to the old country from whence he came. It is a mental, moral and spiritual impossibility for the men who lead this work to ever betray us into the hands of the Roman chUrch or any other disloyal agency. Parker's policy will bring joy to the hearts of every Romanist and disloyalist in this nation. Are you going to follow Parker, the wrecker, or will you remain true to your order, your principles and your conscience? The Rail Splitter. ANTIKLAN MEETING FIZZLES Akron, O.
