Indianapolis, Ind., Jan. 23. . Editor The Fiery Cross: I am a constant reader of your clean, little paper and eagerly await the time when it will become a daily instead of a weekly publication. The picture on the front page of Jan. 19th issue is just what I am longing to see in reality in our public schools. , Godspeed the time when it will come to pass and God bless the Klansmen who will bring it to pass. Surely this picture should be an awakening to the mothers of the little ones being taught in our publis schools. We can not be Klansmen but we can vote for real 100 per cent. Americans and help in this way to do our part. I can only wish with all my heart that every one of these mothers would read The Fiery Cross paper and study the ways and doings of the Ku Klux Klan as it really is and not as our enemies and traitors would have us see it. I am a mother and know what mother love can and will do, once it is awakened to the real facts of this great American organization. I can not find words to say all that I would like to say for The Fiery Cross paper and the Ku Klux Klan. A Mother. Kokomo, Ind., Jan. 23. course, that the Hearst and Pulitzer (Catholic money) interests control such a great amount-of public reading matter. There are not many papers that ever gained much headway in bucking the above clique and the fact that you are making such progress is, indeed, pleasing. In every case , that the Klan has been criticised or maliciously accused it has been by a Catholic person who is against anything that is not run by Catholic, or a cheap politician who is for the party with the largest "slush fund." I know of an organization in which there were both Protestants and Catholics, and at one time a Protest ant and Catholic were running for th presidency of it. The Protestant was elected and all of the Catholic members resigned and tried to do as much harm to the organization as possible. This proved to me that a Catholic will make every possible effort to run anything he gets into and if he fails he will work equally hard to ruin the proposition. The article in last week's issue about '.'The Raffle of Souls" is not untrue to their system for raising money and how any decent-minded person can allow himself to believe and follow such damnable rot is more than one can perceive. It is very apparent that if the pope was located in this country his own followers could not get along with him for the Irish, German and Austrian Catholics do not like "Wops," neither do "Wops" like them and consequently they might not proportionately allot "special dispensation" to them. A search of the penitentiary records in every state in this "God's country" will show clearly what "special dis- ' pensation" from a son of the so-called "Infallible Roman empire" is doing. May the light of truth continue to shine through The Fiery Cross and may it continue to bless those who hate it. Prospective Klansman. Editor of The Fiery Cross: One of the city councilmen of our "No mean . city" attempts to distinl guish himself by introducing an ordinance aimed at the Benevolent Order i of Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, the most sublime order in America today. It is fighting for freedom for you and me, for your children and my children, that American liberty may survive as was intended by the founders I of this great republic. Therefore I ! doubt that his ordinance will be passed as the Protestant citizens of this city are interested in the Klan and are standing back of its great movements. - I happen"4r--lHio-trtmt-it was the Protestant voters who were instrumental in electing Mr. Ray to the city council and he should at least respect these voters and not attempt to strike at them because of his position, which was made possible by said voters. The time is at baud when the real honest-to-goodness upright Protestants must band together and oppose such destructive measures as the one lie is attempting to put through and cram down the throats of the Protest ant people. I dare say that the Knights of Columbus or the Catholics never were or never will be any more patriotic than are the members of the Ku Klux Klan, and you have never seen them at any time attempt to hinder the movements of the Catholic people so far as their religion is concerned. As I understand the teachings of the Ku Klux Klan they do not discriminate against a man because of his religious scruples so long as they j do not conflict with the teaching of j our American Ideals. That is to say, j they are opposed to any religious dei nomination or class dominating the ' political issues in America, so Mr. j Ray, let us prevail upon you not to antagonize our Protestant citizens by oppressing them. By an Honest Protestant, ' Editor of The Fiery Cross: Possibly you can find space in your columns for this anonymous approval of your outspoken straight-from-the-shoulder way of speaking and doing business. Now I was always a wander lust though a bit observant most of my life until Uncle Sam wanted me to play my part in the late war. First let me relate ooa little experience some years ago. I was down and out in Pendleton, Ore., and was told by a brother hobo to go to the Catholic convent and get warm food and possibly a monthly job and on going, as I was waiting for a warm dinner the lady superior had ordered for me she proceeded to delve into my mentality and ideas of life and, of course, my religious convictions and I frankly told her I was a believer in Christian Science which I did favor mostly at that time and, believe me, something snapped; my hopes of a warm job and bed quickly blew up and I was served a light lunch on the front stoop and the reverend mother superior bid me a hasty adieu and locked the door in my face. Whether it was the guid ing hand of a divine Providence or my own evil cunning I never fully decided, but you may rest assured I let her sweet morsel lay and found myself a full meaL At one time I was acquainted with a Christian SclenciS lady practitioner in a big city and she told me many stories from her patients. And I

Even though I speak this way I have a few close friends that arte Catholics and foreigners and even.-though I do not show it I feel my superiority in my own country. We all know an old fool is the worst and most chronic. My "most serious difficulty is the fact that I am married to a Catholic woman with enough temper for the whole parish and priest thrown in. We were all patriotic and sentimentally foolish at that time. So now mine is only an after-thewar depression. Now I never could believe in divorce but I should hate to think that an all-wise and merciful God ever had to do with the digging of any of my pit-falls. Even though I am selling my birth-right and traveling the searlet and primrose path of pleasure, 1

am for you and all of your teachings and dare say I could do you much good if I ever learn to exercise reasonable self-control. I was always interested in doing good when not busy with personal pursuits, but sometime I hope to be one of you and will try to know the Klan better when I feel I am worthy. American Wife and Mother. We are unable to give any informa tion on the organization mentioned other than to say that every eligible 100 American woman will be given an opportunity to join sooner or later. The Editor. Editor of The Fiery Cross.I wish to compliment you on your good work and noble fight for 4meri-' canism and American principles. There is one fatal mistake this wonlerful organization is making and that is by not letting the dear patient wives have a -little part in inside doings and not be pushed out in the cold, so to speak. We are citizens, we are 100 per cent. Americans, every bit of us. We are rearing the future sons of America; shall we be kept ignorant of American pririciples, if so, how can we teach our sons? I have tried to smile, be patient and not show that I am dissatisfied but who could keep up the brave fight week in and out, month ifter month when the usual home-loving husband leaves the fireside twice or once a week anyhow to attend those wonderful speakings, yet I am not allowed even a word of what he said,' what doing or how acting. I am left at home with my little son miles out in the country alone and afraid. Now I am alone with the shot-gun by my side; with fear and trembling I await the inevitable hour when he 3hall return or something happen. Are you treating us fair? Are we counted with the K. of C.'s, Jew3 or negroes? We are good enough to bring the sons and daughters of America into this grand old U. S. A. There is a constant drain now on our pocketbook. I help earn that money. I have a right to know where it goes. Yet my husband says he dare not tell me. We have always been pals ever working together to keep things going smoothly. All at once he drops me out of his confidence, leaves me alone. I dare not even call in a neighbor lady; -she might ask vhere he goes and I can not explain. My heart is sorely troubled. I have brains and know how to use them; why, Oh, why, leave us out of this big undertaking when we might be a help otherwise. I feel sometimes is if I might turn anarchist. I have always been a lover of my country, state and igme. I will stand by the stars anastrfpes and teach my 8on to give his life If need be. Yet, here comes this white-hooded thing in the night and steals my hus band from the fireside, and without one word of explanation or consola tion, I am left out. I feel as if I could get alleviation by rushing out in the welcome darkness and running till I fall from pure exhaustion, then lie on the damp mother earth, from whence we came, until oblivion surmounts and brings peace, sweet peace. I trust you, O mighty members of the K. K. K., will try to overcome this fault for you are, no doubt causing misery in many homes. This is my appeal in God's name let us at least hear a speech once in a while. . An Unhappy Wife. Of course, we do not know whether your husband is a member of the Klan or not, or how he spends his time but without going into very great detail will ask you to again read our edi torial on "Secrecy" in a recent issue. This will show you, I am sure, very clearly the absolute necessity for positive iron-clad secrecy. You wives are not excluded, you know what the Klan stands for if you read The Fiery Cross. You know that if your husband has gone to a Klan meeting, that he is there in your in terest and in the interest of your little son and further than that you

have your own organization, it you are eligible, and will be selected soon
