Cal., Dec. 20. —Police f officials today are .investigating the mysterious death of Lieut. Pat O Brien 1 of Momence, 111., one of the most noted heroes of the war, who was found ; shot to death 1n his room in a local hotel. It is believed O’Brien shot himself because of a separation from his wife with whom he had vainly atj tempted a reconciliation. . A note found by the police, it is declared, bears out this theory.
