MIRACLE MAN MIRACLES ONCE TOO OFTEN
“Dr.” Harry Mays, who gave up prizefighting to become a faith healer under the title of “miracle man,” was placed in the Desplaines street lockup in Chicago Thursday awaiting the miraculous appearance of the $2,500 he needs before the police will free him. • Mays was arrested at his headquarters after he had charged an inspector of the state board of registration $2 for praying over a burn on the inspector’s wrist. He was charged with violating the medicalpractice act. Mays was a prizefighter and shipbuilder until a year ago. Then he established himself as a miracle man” in New Carlisle, Ind., where he took in nearly S3OO a day from persons who believed him able to banish illness with prayen The “miracle man” appeared in ’ Rensselaer a few months ago to perform his miracles, but business proved so poor that he remained but two days. ,* Dr. W.
