Mrs. Frank Webber was in Chicago today. Mrs. Albert Witham went to Monticello this forenoon. W. R. Hoover and Perry Colley went to Indianapolis today. Russell Donahay of Fairbanks, 111., came today. He will make ,his home in Barkley township. Charles -W. Rhoades went tp South Bend today to attend a meeting of electrical contractors. The small son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Webb of five miles north of town is very ill with pneumonia. John Bowie of Wheatfield made his regular weekly visit to this city today. Mr. and Mrs. T. A- Jones of St. John were guests today of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Osborne. There will be a teachers* meeting and prayer service at the Presbyterian church Thursday evening at seven o’clock, E. R. Carmen, of Joliet, 111., has been elected captain of the 1921 Purdue football team. Carmen is an end. ——— Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Steele, who had visited relatives at Mt. Ayr, returned today to their home in Monticello. » Mrs. W. F. Smith of Chicago and Mrs. Frank Ham of Lafayette are guests of Mrs. Charles W. Rhoades of North Front street. Mrs. Laura Lutz has been confined to her home for the past several days with a severe attack of bronchitis. F. L. Lough, cashier of the Remington State bank, and Jacob Wasner also of Remington were in Rensselaer today. Mr. and Mrs. David McConahay went to Indianapolis today for a visit with their daughter, Mrs. William Huffman and family. The infant child of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Horsewood, which had been very critically ill with whooping cough, is now very much improved. Mrs. Alfred Stembel and Mrs. L. B. McCay of Wheatfield were guests today of W. A. Green and family* of Scott street. j Irene Kolleth, who had been visiting her father, A. M. Kranper, returned Tuesday to Gary, where she is attending school. Iniogene Gott of Kentland, who had been the guest of Luella Harmon and other friends, returned today to her home. Mrs. L. J. Sunkus and children returned today to their hotae in Lafayette after a visit here with her 'parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Dunlap. Will A. Imes, formerly of Monticello and well known in this city, died at his home in Los Angeles, Calif., on Friday, Nov. 26. He was engaged in the real estate business. George B? Crockett has been appointed administrator of the estate of his mother, Mrs. Mary Crockett. Hanley and Hanley are attorneys for the administrator. Miss Martha Ramp will leave about the first of January for New Orleans where she will spend the winter with her sister, Mrs. Henry Regus. Miss Edna Robinson will succeed here .in the Dr. Turfler office. , .

Mr. ahd Mrs. M. C. Abelstedt and daughter Vivian, who had been tne guest of Lew Robinson and family, went to Chicago today. Saturday they will continue to their home in New York City. Mr. and Mrs. Walter DeWitt returned to their home in this city Monday from Monticello where they had been the guests of Mn and Mrs. Henry Roller. Mrs. DeWitt and Mrs. Roller are sisters. The federal courts may favor the coal barons, but the weather man is for the people and the mellow weather he is giving is knocking the recent injunction of these wise guys into a cocked-hat. Mrs. William Rishling, who had visited here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Wood, Sr., of College avenue, returned today to her home in Lafayette. She was accompanied by her mother.

Holmes, son Estie, and daughter Edna, returned Wednesday to their home in Buchanan, ‘Mich., after spending the Thanksgiving vacation with Mrs. Holmes’ parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Scott of Barkley township. Mr. and Mrs. Simon Thompson, Dr. A. W. K. Downes of Newland, J. J. Blair and son, Robert, of Newland, J. J. Butschie and Charles Nieman, John Eger and William I. Hoover went to Chicago this forenoon.
David Hollingsworth of LaPorte was in Rensselaer Tuesday. He reports that the hide market is m very bad shape and that his firm will not buy any more hides until the first of the year. He is buying some fpr, but the prices are very low. A The Republican was mistaken in saving in the Tuesday issue ,th®t the two-day-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Hironimus died at the Jasper county hospital, the little one died at the home of Mrs. Alda Parkinson.
ROWLES A PARKER WIN SUIT
The case of Oscar Hauter vs. Rowles and Parker was tried Tuesday by Attorney John A. Dunlap as special judge. The action was brought by Hauter against Rowles & Parker for a partition fence removed. The fence was built by Rowles & Parker on land they had leased, but which was sold during their lease to Mr. Hauter. Rowles & Parker claimed that the fence was built with the understanding that it could be removed. Judge Dunlap found for Rowles & Parker. Hanley & Hanley represented Rowles & Parker, and Moses Leopold appeared for Mr. Hauter. The case was heard Tuesday.
