MANNIS AND CASPER. FOUND NOT GUILTY

Lester Manhis and Earl Casper, the tw<s youths lodged 'in jail here several months ago, were found not guilty of the theft of Arthur Coopers’ automobile at Morocco the night of July 5 by a Newton county jury Wednesday. The strong point at the defense was an, alibi sworn to by five reputable citizens of South Bend. Casper and Mannis are still under indictment for burglarizing the home of Floyd Weisihaar near Brook at about the Same time,, and will be tried on that charge soon. There was only circumstantial evidence against them in the auto stealing case, and by proving an alibi they gained their discharge. The lads are still in jail in this city.
