COUNTY EDUCATIONAL NOTES.

The tax payers of Marion township will hold their red letter day when they dedicate the North Marion Consolidated on the afternoon of October 29th. This date falls lon Friday. State Superintendent I L. N. Hines will be present and give the chief address of the afternoon. County Superintendent W. O. Schanlaub of Newton county will give the opening address at one o’clock. It is possible that there will be other out-of-county speakers but. the chief speaking will be done by the above named men. The occasion will bp used to inaugurate the educational campaign that is set from Nov. 7 to 16th.

। A novel township institute was held at Tefft last week. The session was held on Friday night. The patrons were invited to attend and participate in the program. Miss Addie Harris is principal of the Kankakee Township Consolidated and chairman of this institute. About 150 attended this community institute.

I The state teachers’ association I will be held at Indianapolis next week. This association opens on (Thursday, October 21, and remains lin session three days. The memI bership fee is SI.OO and the ticklets may be gotten from the county | superintendent. A certificate of I identification will also be given each I teacher who purchases a mamber- | ship ticket. This certificate en- ( ables the teacher to get a round I.trip ticket to Indianapolis for one I and one-third regular fare. The I county board ruled that teachers I who attended can receive one day’s I pay for so doing. On November 7 a state-wide camj paign will -be given to advance Indiana’s from seventeenth to first place. The campaign will test till Nov. 16th. It is hoped that all ministers will co-operate in this matter and preach sermons with this as their central idea.
