RECEIVES COAL PETITION
MUNICIPAL COAL YARD CONSIDERED BY THE CITY COUNCILMEN. The city council met in regular j session Monday evening with alb members present. A petition by Terza E. Martinday, et al was presented asking for a street light at the corner of Franklin and Maple streets, was referred tn the light committee. The petition of L. A. Harmon et al (copy of which was published in The Republican) asking that the City establish a municipal coal yard, was considered and referred to Mayor Charles G. Spitler, who is to take the matter up with the railroads and coal mines. The coal dealers of the city were present and made statments in.reference to the present condition in which they show it is almost impossible to get coal without paying a premium apd’ when this is done the retail price must be high. This matter should be investigated and fairness should prevail both to the coal consumers as well as to the coal dealers. ■ y.. Jesse-K.
