JASPER COUNTY FEDERATION
ORGANIZATION OF THE TILLERS OF THE SOIL FORMED IN RENSSELAER, s • On Friday, October 1, a large group of Jasper county farmers assembled in the east, court room of the court house, and were an attentive audience to the brilliant and instructive farewell address of state organizer, C. S. Masterson. This gentleman, with the aid of County Agept Mawhorter, and the enthusiastic fanners of each township, had just completed a very successful drive in forming a federation of Jasper county fanners in township units. These local units affiliate with the county organization, which was put into existence at this meeting. The county organization in turn affiliates With the ’congressional district and the latter in turn in with the state organization; the state with the federal organization. The purpose of this organization is to forward the interests of the farming people in an endeavor that requires collective deliberation. It is evident by part experience that the Grants and interests of the farmers can be secured only- by concerted, organized efforts of the county organization. The county organization selected the following officers for the coming year: Edward Ranton, President. William Ott, Vice President. Charles Postill, Secretary-Treas-urer. In addition to the officers mentioned above, the ’ following were selected at the county meeting: Delegates to , the state convention (if the membership reaches 1,000), Joseph Kdhloff, John Farrar bee and C. M. Dewey. . Legislative Committee, Charles Welch and John P. Ryan. * The organization meeting here Friday was attended by representative fanners of all parts of the county, about two hundred being present The Jasper county membership is about eight hundred. A drive is being made for a membership of 1,200. The following were selected as officers for the various townships:
