SENATOR HARDING DECLARES' WORKMEN RESPOND READILY WHEN GIVEN JUSTICE. WOULD TEACH FOREIGNERS Remedies for the social and economic unrest common in the nation today are suggested in logical and convincing fashion by Senator Warren O. Harding in an interview in the Outlook Magazine, for the third week of August The sound principles and practical reasoning of the senator strikes the reader as being the opinions of a man who is admirably fitted for handling the delicate problems that the national government will be called on to face the next four years. Employers Should be Frank. "I have faith in men,” says Mt. Harding. “I believe that the average man is square; I believe th labor’s fairness when treated squarely and given an opportunity to’ become familiar with facts pertaining »to their vocation. Workingmen • should be made thoroughly familiar with conditions, so that when an ultra-radical comes along, grossly misrepresenting conditions, the workingman can intelligently refute hfs statements. " Should Teach Americanism. “I firmly belled that if our government and those Interested in our government had taken as much pains to familiarize the incoming foreigner with American Ideals and the liberties that the constitution bestows as the radicals have taken to misrepresent and misinterpret our constitution, there would be far less trouble in this country today, « “I am convinced that a vast majority of immigrants come here with the intention of becoming industrious and patriotic American citizens. The loyal support given by the sons of foreign born in the recent war should be sufficient evidence to convince the most skeptical that this conclusion Is true.”
