DEMPSEY KNOCKS OUT MISKE IN THIRD ROUND
§V • — Bentoh Harbor, Mich., Sept. 6.Jack Dempsey knocked Billy Miske cold one minute and thirteen seconds after the gong started the third rotted of their scheduled tenround battle this afternoon. Miske never hiad ’ a chance. Nobody has with Dimpsey. Fifteen thousand people paid around $150,000 to see the chaippion put it over and I guess 14,000 of them believe that Dempsey could have accomplished in the first round what he did m -the third. There was nothing wrong about the muss, -but Dempsey was a little bit slow in cutting loose. Possibly he thought the gathering would enjoy watching him work a while msteading- of "Setting just a flash at him. Miske fought well and gamely, but Dempsey was bo fast and was hitting so hard that Bill nnght as well have been trying to a freight train. Kidney Punch Spills Miske. Miske kept his feet ift the opening round, but a right hand punch over the kidney spilled him in the Becond round. - He was knocked crazy and got up without taking a count When knocked down by Dempsey it’s a good hunch to stay on the mat for a few seconds and collect your scrambled brains. Miske did not know what he was doing. He jumped to his feet and tried to make a fight of it. Dempsey was working on him and. was all set to slap over the finisher when proclaimed the winner.
