The many friends of Nate J. .Reed will enjoy reading the following letter which he has written to his Comrade, George Morgan: Branch R. F. D. 2, Michigan, Aug. 23, 1920. My Dear Friend*.George:— ; - It has been many moons since I have had my peepers on your immortal anatomy, and as this is Sunday and, Billy trained me to abstain from this one pleasure on Sunday, I will write you a few lines to inform you that I am still running on high gear and my life is being spent with all the important finny tribe. They are fighting elegantly six days in the week. I mingle with the bass and perch, and say, George, I will have a young chicken fnend for dinner. Gosh! George, there n nothing better than good health and a superb appetite, and then a real first class meal three times a day, and a lunch if required. I have sweet corn, cucumbers, potatoes, cabbage, turnips,’ sugar beets, green beans, squash, the finest kind of ripe tomatoes, the best time on earth, and tip top neighbors. lam acquainted in ‘the cqunty, Ludington, Manistee, Fountain and you know I am little bashful, but how I long to see friends and solicit more friends. This is one of those
communities where one never gets I ' over-stocked. I expect to go to the I best town in America, Rensselaer, ] this fall and see the boys on my [ way to visit the Reeds in Illinois. I Think that I will spend the winter in Florida. . Well, George, as you are a good judge of timber I want you to seect a good stiff stick or> club and when g man tells you . that he will not support Harding land him one over his left lobe and—do you hear me, George? And if you kill the first, call it heart failure. While I am writing this the bells are ringing. I say this is a prelude to say that we are a real bunch of | imitators of real Christians: I pay my dues when properly notified and take no receipt. The third day of September I will be 32% and can say truthfully that I am noi; fretting about the future and that I will receive it good or bad. well, it is 11:30 and must get dinner. Come over and have* a dean meal with Nate J. Reed. Affectionately yours, N. J. REED. P. S. Frank B. Myers was here and stayed four weeks. We caught forty pounds of fish in five hours.
