The Ladies’ Aid of Barkley church met last Wednesday with Mrs. Fred Linback. After the regular Aid business was transacted Mrs. E. W. Strecker organised an auxiliary of the Women’s Foreign
Missionary Society. Mrs. Charles Moody was elected president of this new organization, Mrs. Jud Adams, vice-president, Mrs. J; E. Dean, secretary, and Mrs. B. Ellsworth, treasurer. The afternoon enjoyment was ended with the serving of ice eream and cake. ' Mr. and Mrs. Tom Walters entertained relatives from Tennessee week. Miss Mary Markin left the last of last week, for an extended visit with relatives and friends in Fort Wayne and Huntington. Joseph Nagle, Sr., has greatly improved the appearance of his house on Wall St., by the application of a couple coats of paint. Mr. Nagle has made several improvements about the place this spring and summer which is making his place one of the nicest in the community. Mr. and Mrs. Kenton Parkinson and family were Sunday guests in -Rensselaer at the Dr. Washburn honle. . J. F. Payne and wife accompanied by their son and family, /enjoyed air auto trip to Valparaiso The Granville Moody household and Mr .and Mrs. Charles Moody took their dinners and spent Sunday along the Tippecanoe river. Kenton Parkison and wife entertained out of town guests Saturday. The Earl Barkley family and Tom Eldredge family spent Sunday with the Lynn Daugherty famiy. The Willing Worker’s Class ol the Barkley church held a “weeny”
roast on the church lawn last Thursday evening, Rev. and Mrs. E. W. ( Strecker were present - and Mrs. j Strecker helped to organize the j young people into a missionary so-, ciety. . 1 Claud Williams and family visited in Wheatfield Sunday. The Sunday school of Barkley church raised over twenty-five dollars last Sunday by personal pledges to send to India/ The. Sunday school is supporting a boy in school there with which Mr. and Mrs. Chester Lewis are connected. Mrs. 1 Lewis is a daughter of Mr. Edward . Tanner of Barkley. The cost of, supporting this boy is $25.00 a year,; but the school decided to send whatever was given and will give any who were not there last Sunday the opportunity to give next Sunday. There will be Sunday school next Sunday at ten o’clock. There » fine interest and attendance at our services this hot and vacation weather. It is a temptation after you have worked hard all week to pack up the family, and “go it” on Sunday. God is giving you good weather, blessing you with good health which enables you to work hard, you have prospects for a, prosperous year and let us stand by the only best institution in the communfty by being at the services each SU Next Sunday at 11:00 o’clock the pastor.
