Mr. and Mrs. LaVendis returned today to their home in Chicago. President and Mrs. H. R. Kurrie returned to Chicago this morning. Mr. and Mrs. Chris Christiansen of Chicago were Fourth of July Attorney W. H. Parkinson of Lafayette was in Rensselaer today. A. I. Abel and Jacob Johnson of Fair Oaks were in Rensselaer today. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Snodgrass qf near Wolcott were in Rensselaer today. Contractor Ben D. McColly and Russell Warren went to Indianapolis this afternoon. Mrs. John T. Culp was called to Trafalgar today on account of the illness of her sister. A. T. White returned today to his home in Lafayette after a visit here with friends. Lucille Good returned today to her home in Delphi after a visit here with Mrs. Elmer Wilcox. Mrs. J. W. Gerard, who had visited at Morocco, took the train here today for her home in Delphi. Edna Powell, who had visited near Brook, returned from here today to her home in Lafayette. Mrs. David Elder and son, Millard, of Indianapolis came today for a visit with relatives and friends. Victor Hoover went to Detroit today from which city he will return with a new Dodge touring car. Jacob Moore, of Racine, Wis., spent the holidays here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Moore. Alva Fross, who had visited with his aunt, Mrs. Mary Williams, returned today to his home in Monticello.. Pauline Hordeman returned today to Chicago after a visit here with her mother, Mrs. John Hordeman. John Huffman went to Hammond today for a Wait with his daughters, Mrs. Alfred Hi c kman and Mrs. C. H. Rodgers. Mrs. Silas Potts went to South Bend today to visit with their son. G- W. Casto returned this morning to Roselawn.
Mrs. Charles Jacks returned today from Frankfort where she had visited with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Ward. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Rees returned today to their home in Kokomo after a visit with relatives in Barkley township. John McCarthy returned today to his home in Kansas City, Mo., after a visit here with his brother George McCarthy and family. Attorney P. R. Blue and Trustee John were here today. Both had business before the board of county commissioners. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Oliver of Paradars, La., are here. Mr. Oliver has a case in court set for special hearing to begin today. Mrs. John Coughlin returned this afternoon to her home in Huntington after a visit here with the family of Warren Robinson. Mr. and Mrs. Don Thompson returned today to their home in Kokomo after a visit with John Wilbanks and family near Parr. Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Campbell returned today to their home in Chicago after a visit here with their son, K. C. Campbell and family.* Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Carson, Mrs. Robert Johnson and son, Leonard, of Lafayette, were the guests of Leslie Clark and family Sunday. Mrs. George Hurley and daughter, Eva, went to Springfield, 111., for a visit with the formers brother, Samuel Cearing and family. Clement Cletus Kirk, of Forest, 111., hfA returned to the|r home after three week’s visit with their aunt, Mrs. Alex Quinn. Clarence Garver returned home Monday after a two week’s vacation which was spent at Wisconsin lakes and with relatives at Bremen, Ind. Mr. and Mrs. John Plock returned today to their home in Hammond after a visit here with Mr. and Mrs. Riley Tullis. Mrs. Plock is Mr. Tullis’ niece. Miss Eva Moore, who is. employed as a book-Keeper in Chicago, is spending a few days’ vacation here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Moore. The Rev. E. W. Strecker went to Hammond today. He expected to continue to Detroit, Mich., for a visit with his son, Paul, before returning to his home. Mrs. Dr. A. W. Downes of Newland was in Rensselaer today having accompanied her friend, Mm. A. Rudd, here to take the train for her home in Chicago. Frank Hardman, Dr. and Mrs. John Ellis, of Chicago, were guests here of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hardman and other friends and relatives from Saturday to Monday evening. Mabel Knickerbocker, of Kankakee, HL, and Otis Bruner of Gary are guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ross Knickerbocker, of this city. Miss Knickerbocker is a niece of Mr Knickerbocker. H. A. Quinn, of Gary, has returned to his home after a few days’ visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. Quinn. His sister, Monica, accompanied him for a week’s visit. Detroit he was employed bv th* Wadsworth company, manufacturers of automobile bodies. Roy Stephenson of Toledo, Ohio, who had been visiting here with relatives, went to Chicago today whore will remain with his firm, Sprague, Warner Co., the Wholesale grocers until Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Wade Loop and daughter, Mary Delight, drove over from Marion by auto and spent the Fourth with Mrs. Loop's mother, Mrs. Travis. The latter accompanied them home for a week’s visit. Mrs. C. R. Harsha of near Schneider returned here this evening, after spending the day with relatives in Delphi. Mrs. Harsha’s two daughters had been here with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Childers. Simon Hostettler, his son, Perry, and E. P. and John Lane left this morning for Buchanon, Mich., for a ten days’ outing. Providing Mr. Hostettler can locate something suitable, he wHI purchase land in that state with the view of locating there. Mrs. Charles Richardson, of Oklahoma City, Okla., attended the funeral here today of her aunt, Mia. John Carlin. T. J. Murphy, Robert Stratton, Mrs. James Fitzgerald, Mrs. M. Towns and daughters, Helen and Vera, and Edward Brusnahan, all of Chicago, were also here to attend the services. Dr. and Mrs. W. L. Myer and daughter, Margaret, and Mr. and Mrs. Oren Parker motored to South Bend the 4th where they visited with Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Coen. While there they were guests at a dinner and dance given by the South Bend Country Club and indulged in golf on the links of the club. Edward Ranton, Mrs. George F. Meyers, Mrs. H. B. Murray and Mr. and Mrs, George Emerson went to Lafayette this forenoon. The two latter had stopped off here Monday evening while en todte from Chicago to their home in Lafayette, Mr. Emerson having taken very sick on the train. He was taken to the hospital, and is much better today.
Delphi, Ind., July s.—The Delphi Journal will be published this week under new management, the senior partner, N. E. Mayhill, retiring, after the sale of his interests to Isaac W. Cripe, who has just closed his second successful year as superintendent of the Delphi city schools. Mr. Cripe is not entirely without experience in the newspaper work, and his decision to continue his residence in Delphi is very gratifying to local citizens. Bert’ B. Mayhill, who has been associated with his brother in the publishing work for ten years, will still be in charge of his own department, and N. E. Mayhill expects to leave for California within the next few days.
