Roy Gundy of Hammond spent a couple of days here this week. Mrs. A. f Abell and Mrs. Clyde Garriott are giving an afternoon tea Wednesday at the home of the former. William Bowser and family have moved into the Harry Harold property. Florence McKay is spending part of her summer vacation in Fair Oaks, her school in Hammond having closed last week. Mrs. Bert Allen of Rensselaer visited here Friday and Saturday. A lively ball game was held here last Sunday between Fair Oaks and Mt. Ayr, resulting in a victory for Fair Oaks. m _ v Mrs. James Trump, Mrs. Leslie Warne and Mrs. Herb Bozelle spent Monday with Mrs. Bryant Prichett of west of town. Born to Mr. and Mrs. F. R. Ervin a son, the last of the week. Orth Graves and family visited the Erwin family Tuesday. A. M. Bringle is recovering as fast as could be expected. Mrs. Wm. Wendell visited in Hammond last week. Mrs. Eggleston started Friday to visit her sister in Pennsylvania, where she will probably remain the rest of the summer. Rev. Todd brought his wife and baby down from Evanston Sunday to atend the children’s day exercises at the school house. A servant girl and SIO,OOO disappeared from the same house the same day; the report does not say but it was probably her pay-day.— Philadelphia North American.
