Billy Grant went to Chicago today. Junior Benjamin was in Roselawn today. John> Drent and family of Kersey was in Rensselaer today. C. E. Medland and son returned to their home in Logansport today. C. H. Cooper of Kankakee, 111., was in Rensselaer on business today. Miss Marie Schultz went to Hammond today for a visit with relatives. Opal Edwards, of - Remington, left today for Gary for a visit with friends. . A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. George Kanne Friday even-, i ing, June 18. ! Howard Speaks went to Whiting today for a visit with his brother, Lester Speaks. Mrs. Russell Van Hook left today for Oak Park, 111., to visit relatives and friends. :— Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Guthrie, of Chicago, are guests of Mr. and Mrs. Simeon Thompson. H. W. Gilbert and A. B. Coleman of Remington took the train here this morning for Chicago. President H. R. Kurrie and family came down from Chicago in his private car Friday evening. Almira Miller and Latona Hurley left for Rome City today where they will spend the summer. Russell Warren of Indianapolis came today to spend the week-end here with relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Norman left today for Bryan, Ohio, for a visit with Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Kershner. Mrs. Carl Wood and son, John Carlton, will leave the hospital for their home on Grace street Sunday. Mrs. W. F. Smith and .son, Millard, are visiting friends here. Millard attended Illinois university last year. Mrs. Margaret Landis returned to her home in Monticello today after a visit with her daughter, Mrs. F. M. Abbot.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Heinz of Hammond came today for a visit with Mrs. Heinz’s parents* Mr. and Mrs. B. D. McColly. Mrs. 0. J. Bivens and Mrs. Roy McColly returned to their homes in Indianapolis today after visiting Mrs. J. K. Smith. Miss Florence Hawkins, of Lafayette, returned to her home today after visiting Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Allman and family. Mrs. L. C. McNemar will arrive here Sunday from Washington, D. C., for a visit with her parents. Postmaster N. Littlefield and family 1 . . , _ Joseph Reeve, who is completing his course at the Chicago Success Shorthand school, is spending the week-end here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Reeve. The following, who underwent operations at the hospital Friday are doing nicely: Stanley Lane, Mrs. Fred Simpson, Mrs. Alonzo Bridgeman and Mrs. John Carlin. Opal Liston, who had been here with her grandmother, Mrs. R. A. Bicknell, returned today to her home near Cedar Lake. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Liston. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert R. Anderson, of Indianapolis, announce the birth of a Son, Carl Melvin, on June fifteenth. Mrs. Anderson was formerly Miss Madeline Abbott of this city. ■ Mrs. Belle McCarty went to Chicago Heights, 111., today to see her new grandson. The young lad arrived at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Zigler about a week ago. Word has been received here from the Rev. W. Garnett Winn Of Chicago that he and Mrs. Winn will visit friends here next week and will also attend the Hamilton-Miller weding which will be held at the First Christian church Wednesday, June 23. Jay Dee Doth, who was a freshman ’in Purdue university this past year, is now employed in the county surveyor’s office. He is taking a course in civil engineering at Lafayette. He is the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Roth of Franklin street Alexander B. Tolin of Colfax township, Newton county, wa s in Rensselaer today. Mr. Tolin is a stockman and was recently a candidate for the Republican nominaton for joint representative from Jasper and Newton counties. He was defeated by J. D. Rich of Brook. Mr. and Mrs. John Bill and daughter, Gladys, returned Friday evening from a very pleasant visit with relatives in Fredonia, Ky. They were accompanied home by Mr. Bill’s sister, Mrs. Anna Thredkeld of Fredonia, Ky., and his nephew, Willis Dome of Salisbury, Ind. The trip to and from Kentucky was made in Mr. Bill’s fine new automobile.
