Now another of our Barkley girls has 'sold out This time it is Pearlin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Claud Williams. The lucky man is James Van Arsdale. They were married last Saturday afternoon. There was lots of noise in the vicinity of the Claud Williams’ home Tuesday night where these young people are living. Judging from the rate our Barkley girls are getting married this spring and summer the hoys must think our girls pretty choice. There will be Sunday School next Sunday at the Barkley church at ten o’clock. We have had -record attendances for the past month. The last attendance mark was 124. Let us make it 150 next Sunday. The classes are. becoming crowded for room and it will not require many more in regular attendance to make it necessary to have more room. This is the your church and Sunday school, if you live in its vicinity and your interest and attendance can make it thelivMest church institution in the county. Just at present the young married people’s class with Jesse Eldredge as teacher is holding the record for the largest enrollment and attendance. If you have never been interested in a Sunday school lesson and you are under forty-five and married, come and join this class and you will soon be interested. Jesse is a wonderful teacher and we are having very interesting lessons these days and the Sunday school hour passes all too soon, especially for this class. There is a class in Sunday school for every other* person and child. There will be preaching service next Sunday evening at seven-forty-five. Come and bring your friends to this service. , „ The niale quartette of Barkley church will furnish the music for the Barkley township commencement to be held Saturday night, June 26. Prof. Moran of Purdue will deliver the address. There are twenty graduates in the cliss. A success? Well it is not necessary to tell anybody in the vicinity of Barkley church that the observance of “Children’s Day” at the Barkley church last Sunday was a success for nearly everyone in the community of the church was there, but for the folks who used to live in Barkley and those interested there who live elsewhere we want to say that it wae one of the most 1 successful enterprises the church has ever carried out. At eight o’clock Sunday morning the young people who had charge of the decorating began to put finishing, touches to the decorations which they had spent Saturday afternoon in putting up. Undoubtedly it was the most artistic and beautiful decorating that has ever been in the church. The young people’s class in the Sunday school nad charge of this work. Before ten o’clock the church was filled to . overflowing and almost as many folks could not get in and sat m the autos as there were in the church. The program was delightfully entertaining and the little ones earned out their different parts in the program almost without a flaw, showing the careful and hard work of those who had the trailing in charge. Credit should also be given the several mothers who left their work three afternoons a week to bring, thjir children and their neighbors children to the church for practice. The male quartette and choir did well in the line of music and a most beautiful and. impressive part of the program waft when the
pastor conducted the baptismal service, baptizing the little son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Tanner, little daughter ol MM* and Mrs. Tom -Eldredge, little eon and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. - Willard Tanner, little sen of St and Mn. Sam Wiles, little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Moore and little -son and daughter -of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Barkley. At the close of the program a basket dinner was served and at two o’clock W. L. Wood or Rensselaer gave an inspiring address on “Vision and Service.”
