Ed Harris of Mt Ayr returned from Chicago this afternoon. Bert Campbell made . a business trip to Monon this afternoon, Ora Moore and two daughters of Monon were in Rensselaer today. Clinton Robinson of R. F. D. 1, Fair Oaks, was in Rensselaer today A. W. Snyder of Brooktook . the train from here today for Indianapolis. Mrs. E. W. Matheny of near South Bend came today for a visit with friends and relatives. Miss Lillian Ransdell of Chicago came this afternoon for a 1 visit with C. C. Starr and family. * The Rev. J. A. Carter will preach at the Baptist church at 10:45 a. m. Sunday. Everybody welcome. James George of Akron, Ohio, is the guest of his mother, Mrs. Lottie George, of North Van Rensselaer street. Judge C. W. Hanley is nursing a sort foot caused by wounds received in a fight with a large hog at his farm. Frank Cook of LaCrosse was in Rensselaer today looking after mat-
ters connected with the Barnard ditch. Jack and Doris Larsh went to Kokomo for a visit with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Barnes. Mrs. Barnes is quite sick. Frank Lewis, superintendent of the Monon, and who is located at Lafayette, was the guest of Agent W. H. Beam here Wednesday. W. L. Seller of Manhattan, 111., but who is looking after his three hundred twelve acre farm near Lee nr»g in Ran—olaer Wednesday,— Attorney H. M. Kelley of Chicago was here on business. Mr. Kelley is a brother-in-law of James, John and* Joseph Halligan of this city. Gene Evans of Lafayette is in Rensselaer. Mr. Evans is a landscape gardener and may help to make Rensselaer still more beautiful. „ Daisy Knaur and Catherine Chamberlain, who are attending the State Normal School at Muncie came home today to spend a short vacation. The Rev. D. A. Rodger and wife of Star City are visiting relatives here, among them R. A. Parkison and family and Henry Pierson and family. . .. Lewis L. Quinn, after spending the past week in Charleston, Va.,

Edna Reed, who is attending the Muncie Normal school, came home Wednesday evening for a visit, with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Reed. Mrs. George Stoudt of Remington was in Rensselaer today having accompanied her daughter, Mrs. D. T. Shrader and husband here to take the train for their home in Waukegan, 111. " _ a u Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Wood, Sr., went to Dayton, Ohio, where Mr. Wood will attend a reunion of his Civil War regiment. Their son Harvey and family live near Dayton and they will visit with them before returning home. . Mr. and Mrs. John I. Gwin were in Chicago Wednesday. Mr. Gwin reports that among the people m Chicago there is a very strong sentiment favoring the nomination of Senator Johnson by the republican national convention.
