COUNTY EDUCATIONAL NOTES

Numerous inquiries have been made about the various township commencements. None have been set except the joint commencement between Hanging Grove and Milroy townships at Milroy church on Saturday night of June 19th. Mr. Davisson of Barkley has closed a date with Prof. Thos. F. Moran of Purdue University to return to Barkley for the commencement at Barkley church on Saturday night of June 28th. These two dates have been set but no others. ■ The latter was set but a few days back. Prof. Moran is a speaker of much force and win please his audience this year as well as he did last year at the same place. There seems to be no lessening among teachers to demand the high dollar regardless of professional training or grade of license. A number of trustees ar« becoming impatient and are already answering correspondence from, out-of-the county teacheres. A trustee knows about the amount he can pay and he will pay this amount without much quibbling. It seems that the trustees who are offering the highest wages are getting their schools filled with promises from excellent teachers. Jasper county is paying much more than the average county. Lake county is paying more than probably any county in the State.
