Washington, May 21.—Senate investigation of the pre-convention campaign expenses and pledges of presidential candidates got under way today. , ' Acting under the Borah resolution adopted by the senate yesterday the elections committee authorised a sub-committee to take up the task "with all .possible dispatch ’ and Senator Kenyon, republican, lowa, was named as chairman. Telegraphic requests were sent immediately to the several campaign managers of leading candidates to attend the first session here on Monday. . Senator Kenyon associates in the Work, as named by Chairman Dillingham of the elections committee, are Senator Spencer, Missouri, and Edge, New Jersey, republicans, and Pomerene, Ohio, democrats.
