Sewell Randolph, who is a fireman on the Monon, working out of Lafayette, returned here today, having taken a leave of absence to extend over a period of time. ' Evansville, Ind., April 27.—A loss estimated at $500,000 resulted when the Wabash river levee near ■Oaktown, Ind., gave way here today and water swept into 10,000 acres of wheat land. Bernice, eighteen - months - old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William T. Porter, of Union township, died at the home of her parents Tuesday morning after a brief illness. The little one had been sick but a short time. The funeral services will be held Thursday morning and burial will be made in the Dunkard cemetery.

Several from here attended . a meeting of the American Legion Post at Morocco Tuesday evening. The Morocco post is planning on branching out extensively and will hold a meeting next Monday evening to discuss future activities. Club rooms are to be secured and the Legion members will take a prominent place in social and civic enterprises. Either Attorney W. H. Parkison, of Lafayette, or George H. Healey, of Frankfort, will deliver Jhe principal address Monday evening.
