BREWSTER PROMISES NO EXCESSIVE COAL PRICES
New York, April 2.—. Responsible bituminous coal operators will “condemn any unwarrantable price and any profiteering policies,” Thomas J. Brewster, chairman of the scale committee of the Bituminous Coal Operators, said in a statement issued here tonight. “Insinuations that the coal operators are going to gouge the public 'because of the recent 27 per cent advance in wages, as put out by the United Mine. Workers’ spokesmen in the guise of protest in the public interest, are sheer nonsense,” said Mr. Brewster.
