WOOD FAVORITE WITH ST. JOSEPH REPUBLICANS
South Bend, Ind., March 80. — Charges of the large use of money, made against the campaign of Leonard Wood for the Republican Prudential nomination, the being refuted in South Bend apd Mishawaka with great vigor. Refusing to believe Hie charges that the Wood organization was spending money in any improper or illegal way, Hie big progressive element of the RepubI lican party, which gave South Bend and St. Joseph county to Roosevelt in the three-cornered national election, is determined to show that in this district Wood is a strong favorite. V The support which was expected to go to Senator Johnson is now practically all in the Wood bandwagon and, if present indications point to anything, Wood will carry St. Joseph county without any trouble in the primary election. Governor Lowden, of Illinois, Apparently is the second of the local voters. Senator Harding, of Ohio, thus/ far has failed to make any impression here, although Vernon Van Fleet, manager of the Harding campaign in Indiana, is chairman of the Thirtenth district Republican organization.
