Those who have read “Westward Ho!” remember Lundy island, which Ues in the English channel. It is one of the best known of the many island “monarchies” that surround Great Britain. It is a delightful little jewel that was once the haunt of pirates and smugglers. It was once captured* by French pirates, and later fell into the hands of Turkish privateers.
