In reply to a telegram asking Representative Wood to state why he favored General Leonard Wood as the standard bearer of the Republican party as their candidate for president, replied as follows: —/ To Gen. Leonard Wood Headq’t’rs., Claypool Hotel, Indianapolis, Ind. General Leonard Wood should be nominated and elected president of the United State for the reason that our chief executive should be a man with business and executive ability. He should have military experience as well as being a statesman. He should be a man who stands for liberty and justice and all of the sacred principles that American
