Slightly Embarrassed.
A good story was told to me the other day by Miss Marie Lohr concerning a maid who, quite unexpectedly, expressed a wish to “give notice.” Somewhat surprised, Miss Lohr asked, “Is there any: reason?” Then, seeing that the girl hesitated and looked confused, she added, “Something private, perhaps?” “No, ma'am,” was the answer, “it ain’t no private, it’s a sergeant. He’s been denobllised." —New York Times.
