Shows State’s Duty To Boys and Girls
WILLIAM L. BRYAN
Dr. Bryan, as president of Indiana University, is directing the plans being made tor proper observance of the University’s Centennial next June and he is gratified at the enthusiasm alumni and former students are showing over the Centennial program. But Dr. Bryan is likewise lifting his voice to sound a warning to the people of Indiana on the dangers confronting education, with the state’s best teachers so poorly paid' they are seeking opportunity— in coifftnercial Unes while other states are offering proper recompense for teaching. ‘They are taking our men," declares Dr. Bryan. "I maintain that Indiana can well afford to equip its higher educational institutions properly and to pay proper salaries. No salary that Illinois University Is willing to pay a Hoosier instructo- is too big for Indiana people to pay to retain him in the state's schools."
