Washington, D. C., Jan. 3. More than 2,600 alien radicals ar* rested by the department of justice last night and today are to be proceeded against under the provision of the immigration laws which provide that persons who advocate the overthrow of the United States government or belong to organizations advocating such doctrine shall be deported. The first evidence of well defined revolt against the administration’s peace treaty among democratic senators came to light today, when a number of democrats agreed to meet in conference tomorrow with Senator Hoke Smith, of Georgia, to frame a set of treaty reservations with a view to effecting a compromise with the republicans.
