BARKLEY.

The three daughters of Mr. and Mrs. William Holmes, who have been ill with scarlet fever, are improving. Miss Ruth Daugherty, of Marion township, and Paul Smith, of Hanging Grove township, were the guests of Mr. Smith’s sister, Mrs. Lynn Daugherty, last Sunday. Virgil Snedeker was unable to attend school fdr several days last week on account of a sore face caused from .a skin eruption. ‘ The Ladies’ Aid of McCoysburg met with Mrs. J. E. Dean last Wednesday. On account of the cold weather and the long drive the crowd was small, but those present thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon. An Epworth League was organized at the Barkley church last Sunday night. The interest and enthusiasm displayed at the organization of this society indicates that it will be one qf the liveliest organizations of the church. Miss Bertha Maxwell was elected president; Joe Bates, first vice president; Alice Sigmund, second vice president; Lee Timmons, third vice president; Margaret Bates, fourth vice president; and Olive Ellsworth, secretary and treasurer. The services at Barkley church next Sunday will be as follows: Sunday school at 10 o’clock, morning worship and sermon by the pastor at 11 o’clock. Epworth League at 6:30. The lar£e crowd at Sunday school and the evening services last Sunday wss a good expression of the loyalty of the people of this community to the church. However, there are many families in this community who did not have a representative at the services Sunday. To everybody in the community the. invitation is, “to make this church your ,church.”
