BANDITS MADE A SUM HAUL
ATTACK ON WHEATFIELD BANK NETTED BUT S4O THIS . MORNING^
Robbers blew open the safe of the Wheatfield 'bank at about 2 o’clock this morning and escaped with their loot—about forty dollars. It is believed that the robbery occurred just as the New York Central train was passing through the town, as the night operator at the railroad station heard a car passing the station at that hour. The inventory of the loss taken this morning disclosed the fact that a few papers in addition to the forty dollars were missing, but that the only actual loss to the bank was the money. Another safe in the bank, formerly the property of the First National Bank of this city, which contained considerable currency, was untouched. It is supposed that the robbers were the same ones who performed the robbery of the Mt. Ayr bank a few weeks ago. —Daniel S. Makeever and E. J. Randle, of this city, are interested in the Wheatfield bank.
