KICKS CHILDREN UNMERCIFULLY.
It is reported that a father in this city kicked his two little sons so savagely Friday evening that his action brought forth very severe criticism. The cruel and inhuman treatment was witnessed by a woman, who was upon the street at the time, and it is understood that she threatens to take the matter up with the proper authorities. Jf reports are true as to the treatment received by these lads, the community is under obligation to protect them. It is reported that they are tied up at home when the parents go out every night to the picture shows; that they are underfed, while the father makes as much as S3O a week. The writer saw one of the lads on the street barefooted after all other children had been wearing shoes and the weather was bitterly cold. This condition should be investigated and these little fellows should have the care and protection of the community if they are abused and neglected by their parents. Nothing is so pitiful as the mistreatment of poor innocent children and the sending o<f them out in the world, stunted in mind, body and soul, prepared for a life of hate and wickedrtess, instead of a life of love and usefulness.
