CANDIDATE FOR STATE OFFICE
of Franklin. The editor of the Republican is pleased to present to the republican voters of Jasper county the name of William G. Oliver, of Franklin. Mr. Oliver is a candidate for the republican nomination for the office of auditor of state. A party is fortunate that can present so splendid a candidate for office as Mr. Oliver. Mr. Oliver is a member of the Johnson county bar and also owner of one of the largest Johnson county farms. 77 He has an interest in a Franklin newspaper and is secretary of the Indiana Republican Editorial association. He is active in the affairs of his hcgne city, being a member of the school board and chairman of the Board of Children’s Guardians of Johnson county. He is a member of the Presbyterian church. He was elected mayor of Franklin in 1909 by the largest majority ever given a candidate for that office and the trust thus imposed in him was faithfully and efficiently discharged. While a man of large business affairs, he accepted the appointment as county fuel administrator during the war and his splendid service was of great value to the people of Johnson county. He worked day and night; gave Wood from his farm; paid for many cars of coal with his own personal check and saw to it that the widow and orphan were warm even when the mercury was driving far below zero. Johnson county is enthusiastically back of Mr. Oliver and his high personal character and splendid business ability will appeal to the republicans of the state and later to the voting body of the commonwealth. - . . Mr. Oliver is a cousin of Mrs. George F. Meyers, of this city, and her brother,—P. O. Kennedy, of Wheatfield township, and all who have had the pleasure of knowing the Kennedys of this county have the-highest regard for their sterling c li a r a ct e r» " The editor of the Republican is personally acquainted with- Mr. Oliver and has that personal regard and esteem which is universally expressed by all who know him. „ He should make a winning candidate and a most faithful and efficient public servant.
WILLIAM G. OLIVER
